Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, I couldn't find an answer using the search function.

I recently bought an Audi A4 B8 Quattro with an S-tronic transmission and a 2.0 CGLC engine.

150,000 km, car is in excellent condition, new inspection (TÜV) and emissions test (AU), only the fuel consumption is high, according to the onboard computer it averages 8.0 liters.
At the gas station: I drove 500 km with 50 liters of fuel, which is 10.0 liters per 100 km, driving economically! Always including 15-20 km of rural roads at a time.

Error memory is clear, injector values are OK, MSG is original.

What could be the cause of the high consumption?

Thank you and best regards.

Hi,

The intercooler has a leak; you should be able to hear it, even without having anything stuck in your ears. icon_cool.gif

Wheels that are difficult to turn or brakes that squeal can quickly reveal themselves through excessively high temperatures.

A full DPF and resetting the mileage would also be an option. The amount of ash/ash volume in the DPF can be checked using VCDS.

Best regards, Rainer.

All-wheel drive, automatic transmission, high weight, wide tires... overall, these are all typical features.

I'll check the DPF values tomorrow. Regardless of how short or long I drive, the fan runs afterwards.

I can't imagine consuming more than 3 liters above the manufacturer's stated fuel consumption.

Yes, I don't know, but I used to get 10 liters per 100 kilometers with my Audi A3 and a trailer. X

I'm currently getting about 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers with my T6.

Perhaps the person asking the question is driving digitally and revving each gear up to 4000 rpm. X

Hi there,
These things are fuel guzzlers if driven carelessly. Especially at temperatures below 20°C and on short trips, they also don't warm up properly. I know this from my experience with my A4, although not to the same extent.
Observe the displayed instantaneous power consumption in relation to your gas pedal position.

I don't think I drive recklessly; I rarely use full throttle.

None of my previous diesel cars, ranging from 1.9 to 3.0 liters, have ever consumed 10 liters per [unit of measurement - e.g., 100 kilometers] with my driving style!

Hello Pegasus,

The technical specification likely dates back to a time before Audi implemented the "23Q7" field measure for the EA189 engine as part of a confidence-building initiative.

If you refer to the software as "original" after the Dieselgate scandal, you will have a hard time achieving the stated fuel consumption figures.

Can you rule out a leak? Some engines are prone to strong vibrations after the update, which can cause pipes/clamps to come loose.

Best regards,

Michael.

Good morning.

Since I don't have VCDS myself, I had to bother a friend, early on Sunday morning – the best time, but I was really curious! He only had a short amount of time, but I think that was enough.

If you know where to look, you can find what you're looking for.
Based on how I'm interpreting the values, it seems my DPF is overloaded and that's why it's regenerating roughly every 50 kilometers.

Or am I seeing something wrong?

Definitely. The limit is 0.175 liters.
The question is just where this comes from, given the mileage of 150,000 km.
For comparison: I'm currently seeing 0.11 liters per kilometer with over 160,000 kilometers on the odometer (Audi A4 8K CJCD, of course also with the software update, at around 50,000 kilometers).
The DPF needs to be replaced, but the cause of the abnormal loading should be identified.

Okay, the DPF was cleaned, but unfortunately, the replacement part from ERNST didn't fit.

I'm now curious to see how much energy it consumes...

"The software update was performed at 53,000 km. I suspect it might have been driven with a tuning box, which could explain the high ash content."
