Hi,

After having to replace the head of my AFN engine three times now, and having invested a lot of time and money to get it fully functional again, I just need a few good tips on how to properly break it in.

The engine now has a total of 120,000 km on it, but after replacing all the valves and piston rings, it runs perfectly again. Okay, I admit it, I've stalled it twice. icon_redface.gif I'm not exactly a gentle driver. Do you think that makes a big difference?
So far, I haven't really pushed it past two thousand RPM, only occasionally up to three thousand and a half, but not under load. I'm wondering if I might have already damaged it, considering I've only driven 650 kilometers since the repair. What do you think about it? Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Either there's a serious problem with your engine, or you're doing something fundamentally wrong.

icon_lol.gif What kind of thing are you? Do you buy a new car every 120,000 km?
120,000 km is nothing.

Why was the head removed from 3x?

Are you asking if anyone is using any rental cars? They also work.

As long as the engine hasn't reached its operating temperature, it shouldn't be subjected to high loads; that's all there is to it.

There used to be a discussion about breaking in new items here; just use the search function.

Best regards, Rainer.
