HI.
Can any of you TDI drivers with naturally aspirated engines describe the conditions you're experiencing?
- When you turn on the ignition, should it start automatically or should it already be in the "on" position?
- It is advisable to keep it on while the device is in operation.
- It will automatically close as soon as you stop it.
- Will she stay there? Or will she leave again?
As far as I know, it's closed by vacuum. Do all newer TDIs have a vacuum reservoir to keep this thing closed?
Thank you.
m;
P.S. I'm considering buying my 1Z a SRK .

In TDIs without (switchable) water-cooled EGR, the intake manifold flap is actuated by vacuum. For example, in the AXR engine, the intake manifold flap is actuated by an electric motor.
When the machine is stopped, the flap closes and then opens again about 5 seconds later. As far as I remember, the flap is always open (regardless of the system), but it briefly closes when the machine is stopped to reduce the impact of stopping. Gruß Bertil

The valve only needs to be open during operation and close for a few seconds at the moment when ignition is switched off. After that, the engine is already stopped, and it doesn't matter whether the valve remains closed or opens again, because the vacuum slowly leaks away.
The flap must definitely open again when the ignition is turned on (to start the engine), but whether it's already open beforehand doesn't matter.
Does the constant power cycling really bother you that much that you're willing to invest time and money into fixing it?

Hmm, well, the really bad rattling comes from the tractor when it's running!
But an SRK would be really cool. I enjoy tinkering with things. And when it comes to the development history of TDIs, a 1Z engine still has a lot of potential for upgrades and modifications .
Is there anything cheaper than the AGR unit (which costs €100, as far as I'm aware)?
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

What cool things can you build with a 1Z (assuming it's a specific type of device or component)? I can only think of adding a multi-function display and cruise control to my car, but those aren't related to the engine.
Best regards, WarLord.

On my G3, the first thing I did was use the already unlocked GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

With noise tuning, one could probably spend years working on a 1Z engine .
Greetings.

Sound tuning on the 1Z? Probably not possible. But you're not really using the GRA (presumably referring to a specific feature or system), are you?
Best regards, WarLord.

Sure, I used them!
Meanwhile, I had the original sentence installed.
I only built this awesome version to test whether it's already unlocked, so I don't have to hear later that nothing works, etc.
I was really sweating when I first turned it on, worried that I might immediately damage the engine control unit .
Currently, I'm working on an EGR valve cover that is intended for the 1Z engine.
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

Hi,
If you're looking for noise reduction in a G3 TDI, I have a tip for you.
I placed a felt mat between the engine compartment and the splash guard. Of course, I cut it appropriately to accommodate the steering linkage, etc. I attached the mat to a metal strip that runs approximately across the middle of the engine compartment and is fastened to the body with bolts on both ends. It essentially covered the entire engine. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of it because I no longer own the car, but it did make a difference...
Greetings.
Jean.

How much did the steering wheel control cost you?
Best regards, WarLord.

Thank you for the tip, Jean.
While I can't quite picture it, the TDI engine in the G3 already has a pad on the firewall. This part, which has an aluminum coating in the middle and an aluminum rail, is designed to prevent the brake line from getting too much heat.
In addition, I installed the soundproofing pads in the water tank, which are supposedly standard equipment on the TDI models, but were naturally missing from mine.
But my tractor makes a sound more like something is catching or large masses are being moved.
When the engine is idling, it sounds normal from the outside, and when you put your head inside (e.g., through the open door), a dull rumbling sound is added to the noises .
The AGR cover is (almost entirely) just for show – although it's very elaborately lined with soundproofing material on the inside.

Oops, I still owe you an answer.
It didn't cost me anything because I opted out of the included GRA installation when I bought it.
As far as I know, there's an aftermarket kit available for around €75. It should include everything you need.
In my car's engine control unit (ECU), the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) function was already unlocked, which is why my cheap GPU worked.
Here's an invoice from someone else:
