Hi, does anyone perhaps have an explanation why an SDI model (Ibiza) from 2001 occasionally revs up briefly and strongly to 2000 RPM when starting (as if you're giving it gas when you turn it on), but only for 1 second icon_rolleyes.gif icon_question.gif?

Hmm, I've experienced something similar before. Apparently, the alternator had to generate so much power for a short period that the engine had to adjust its settings.
(My system had extremely high power consumption.)

'Now I have a 95 Ampere Exide battery installed, and it only occasionally increases the RPM from 950 to 1100.'

(Well, if 150 amps are drawn... icon_twisted.gif icon_biggrin.gif)

It probably isn't that, because there's nothing inside the car (like a sound system or anything).

Hello,

He who seeks, finds: https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=15

Here's a quick question: Should I continue to populate the database? It seems fewer and fewer people are actually using it to search.

Hello,

He who seeks, finds: https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=15

Here's a question on the side: Should I actually continue to fill the database? It seems that fewer and fewer people are taking the trouble to search there.

Absolutely! Please don't stop doing that! For my part, I can only tell you that it's very, very important for me and the vehicles I get access to. I've already been able to clearly identify some errors thanks to it, without having to search for a long time!

Unfortunately, with new users, it's often the case that they don't want to read. It's easier to post a message than to spend an hour reading through existing content. When you subtly suggest they use the search function, you often get responses like, 'I already did, but I didn't find anything.' This is usually because the described symptoms don't perfectly match their own!

but all of this, in my opinion, should not deter us and should allow us to continue the excellent work here! }

Hello Michael,

I completely agree with Jörg!

It would also be interesting to know how many workshops secretly obtain information here or even actively seek advice under pseudonyms (although we will probably never know "the whole truth").

While it might not be exactly what the inventor intended, if this helps even a few TDI owners faster and/or more affordably, then Rainer's website is ultimately still achieving its main goal.

Thank you for the link; I was searching, but only found it under icon_redface.gif technical articles.
The link states:
1.9 l SDI/TDI
AFN, AHU, AEY, AGD, ALE.
Engine revs up to approximately 2,000 RPM after starting, but lacks power.
Approximately 120 km/h with error code 1237, fuel valve N109.
Warning light is flashing.

Cause:
The electromechanical shut-off valve is used in the safety self-diagnosis system.
identified as defective.

Solution:
Repair of the electromechanical shut-off valve using...
Part number 028 198 135.

The revving up is very brief and only happens very rarely, otherwise everything works perfectly, and it reaches 180 km/h according to the speedometer. Of course, the check engine light isn't on either.
So, I guess it can't be the fuel valve, right?
Should you wait for various indicator lights to turn off before starting the car, or should you just turn the key to start the engine?

Hi,

It's not always necessary for all the error symptoms to appear simultaneously. Even if you're only experiencing the high RPM after starting, I would still investigate this particular issue.

I know, maybe it's helpful to know that it only has 44,000 km on it. We will definitely keep an eye on it. Also, it still has a warranty.

@Avenga

I do it depending on my mood (by turning the key). The preheating only happens below 5° Celsius anyway (unless you've modified the sensor), and the systems still start up, but the engine is already running.

Best regards, WarLord.

Some time ago, this problem was already discussed, and at that time, it was mentioned that leaky fuel injectors might be the cause, which might be helpful. icon_question.gif

Hello Avenga!

I don't want to join the discussion about the pros and cons of the database, but I want to share my experience with this issue. In my case, the problem was caused by a faulty coolant temperature sensor. This sensor was sending an unrealistically low temperature reading to the control unit.

Best regards, Peter.

To clarify something about the database:
Those who use it don't always need to post. So, don't assume that no one is using the DB just because you see only a few posts.

Regards,

Olaf.

The coolant temperature sensor is likely faulty in 90% of cases. You'll get the same effect if you disconnect it, and the engine will rev higher during startup.

I'm getting back to you.
I went to the Seat dealer to have the car's error codes read (even though the warning light wasn't on).
There, the coolant temperature sensor occasionally malfunctioned.
Okay, sometimes when I start it up, it shows a temperature that's way too low.
I still have to drive quite a distance before the repair. Will this cause any issues during the drive? Or is it just for turning on?
