Battery replacement!

Do you have any experience with that?

Hi,
After replacing the battery, some remote controls need to be reprogrammed. This is also the case with my Votex remote control in my Volkswagen Golf III.
Okay, let me get the instructions out and take a look...

Unfortunately, it didn't work either; it only worked once.
when I was very close to the receiver.

Hello,

Have you ever thought that the new batteries might be faulty?
It happened to me personally that I acquired new but very well-aged specimens that I had to dispose of immediately.
Since then, I only buy batteries from stores that seem to have a high turnover rate (so they don't end up sitting on the shelves and going bad).
"Could you measure the voltage? Button cells usually have around 3V, but it should also be printed on the battery itself. You could also try drawing a few milliamps using a resistor bridge to make sure the voltage doesn't drop under load. However, with dead button cells, I've always measured significantly below 3V just by connecting them to a measuring device."

Best regards, Rainer.

'My remote central locking system had been working increasingly poorly after 2 years. Replacing the batteries didn't help either. I immediately received a new one from my car dealership free of charge. It seems to be a known problem; they apparently had replacements ready for every Passat (model year 1998).'

Sure, thanks.

I suspect there's nothing more they can do for me with goodwill, but my car is from 1997 icon_rolleyes.gif.
