I drive a VW Bora Estate with a 100 hp PD engine. I had my engine control unit (ECU) remapped by the company CSW in Wolfsburg to increase the power output to 130 hp and 340 Nm of torque.
Okay, here's my problem:
It has happened to me for the third time today that a 110 horsepower diesel Passat drove away from me.
The first time, I thought to myself, 'Okay, he's probably chipped.'
With the second 110 horsepower Volkswagen, I started to think deeply.
And when I tried to overtake another diesel car today, it floored the accelerator and sped away.
It was always a different 110 horsepower diesel engine each time. It can't be possible that a standard 110 hp diesel runs better than my 130 hp common-rail (PD) engine, right?

Hi,
How is your car translated?
Performance and torque aren't everything...

Hi,
Where did you get the information that it was a 110?
I haven't seen a Series 110 drive away yet, let alone a heavy Passat.
What you're describing sounds like a significant performance surplus on the part of your "opponent." Gruß Bertil

There are two possibilities:
You made a mistake identifying your opponents, and they were vehicles with more power.
Your car isn't performing as it should. Your 100 horsepower (common rail) engine usually performs better than the 110 horsepower one, assuming both are standard models and identical vehicles. Of course, a Passat is also a heavy car, and with 110 horsepower, it's not particularly fast. You should be faster without a chip tuning module, and even more so with one installed!
Try doing the "Ulf test" – it will give you more information about your car's performance.

Hi,
I also drive a Passat station wagon, specifically the 110 model.
And believe me, your opponents were...
Definitely tuned to the point of being completely messed up.
When accelerating, my old Escort TD used to...
Approximately 90 horsepower, and quite fast.

Sure, here's the translation:
"Just a quick note:"
The Passat V6 TDI also has "just one" red indicator light.
If your opponent has tampered with their V6 engine, it will look like a 110.
Apart from the completely painted bumpers, they look identical (this only applies to the 3B model, not the 3BG).
This could explain the significant difference.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

I've noticed that the Passats might be able to translate for a longer distance. Also, with my 100HP PD engine, I hardly stand a chance against an A4 or Passat with a TDi engine in terms of top speed. VW Golf III TDI Avenue, MKB 1Z, EZ96

Hello,
I completely agree. Even though the engines are identical, VW tunes them differently. I have no chance against a Passat Estate (station wagon) with a PD engine producing 74 kW on the highway during acceleration, even though I have the same engine and weigh less because I don't have as much cargo in the back. You can find the acceleration figures and top speeds in any brochure.
Es ist auch ein gewisses Anrecht. Z.B. TMore technically inclined individuals can certainly provide more specific information on this, such as details about different gearboxes, engine control settings, etc.
Regards,
Marco.
P.S. While a diesel car with 110 horsepower might not be something I'd buy, I also wouldn't let it pass me by on the road.

I was able to observe the same thing. We recently went on vacation with three cars: a Volkswagen Passat TDI with 130 horsepower (PD engine), a Škoda Octavia with a 110-horsepower TDI, and my Fiat Stilo JTD with 115 horsepower.
"Because I had the lowest torque, I was slightly slower initially. However, the Škoda pulled ahead during acceleration. Our top speeds were almost identical at around 210 km/h. The PD only gained an advantage from that point onwards."

Hi there,
You have to be careful with the TDI engines.
For example, there's also the VW with a 130 HP TDI PD engine, available with both 5-speed and 6-speed transmissions.
The version with the 5-speed gearbox has 'only' 285 Nm of torque, while the factory setting for the 6-speed version is 310 Nm.
And it also depends on the translation as to whether your car has good pulling power or not.
