I have a question (again *g*): I've noticed that the oil pressure doesn't register, or the warning light stops flashing and goes out, until about 1-2 seconds after starting the engine. This was the case before the oil change, and it's still the case after the oil change. Has anyone else noticed this? By the way, I only noticed this in the winter; maybe I wasn't paying as much attention in the summer.
Best regards, WarLord.

It's perfectly normal... depending on the design, the oil circulation may not reach the turbocharger and cylinder head, and the oil filter may also not receive oil if no valves are installed.
My ALH also makes a clicking sound for the first 2-3 seconds, even with the hydros.

Sure, but does the oil pressure warning light also illuminate on your instrument cluster?

No, that only happens when the engine speed exceeds approximately 1600 RPM AND there is no oil pressure.
'But with a diagnostic tool or a test lamp, you can see if the switch is working, and in this case, it's not activating within 2-4 seconds after starting the engine. That's also the time when the hydraulic components are making a clicking sound.'

Well, the oil pressure warning light still flashes for 1-2 seconds after starting, then goes out, and doesn't come back on. All of this happens while the car is idling.

There are different systems out there, and maybe it's the same for you as it is for me. If there isn't 0.3 bar of pressure at the top of the cylinder head, the oil light will blink (and it also blinks for 2-3 seconds after starting). The lower 0.9 bar oil pressure sensor, located on the filter flange, is only considered relevant by the control unit when the engine speed exceeds 2000 RPM. So, if the pressure at the lower oil pressure sensor is below 0.9 bar for 1 or 2 seconds (don't quote me on that) when the engine speed is above 2000 RPM, my light will come on, along with a very noticeable buzzer.

Okay, I only see the oil pressure light briefly after turning on the ignition (self-test). After that, I've never seen it light up or flash. Neither after starting the engine (not even after an oil change), nor at any other time (not even when the oil pressure sensor cable is disconnected or grounded). Sometimes I wonder if the oil pressure control system is even working...
Does anyone know how the entire system is wired at G4, or when the light is supposed to blink or flash?

In my vehicle, the oil pressure is only measured above 2000 rpm. Theoretically, if you stay below 2000 rpm, the oil light will illuminate even without oil pressure . The switching threshold is approximately 1.5 bar in my case. If the engine exceeds 2000 rpm and the oil pressure is below 1.5 bar at that speed, the warning light comes on (along with the message "Oil pressure not OK" and a beep). However, the light remains on even at idle, and only turns off with a restart.
"These 1.5 bar are extremely low; the engine or oil pump is likely already damaged. Mine produces over 3.5 bar at 2000 rpm when the engine is warm in the summer, and over 2 bar at idle. Therefore, I suspect a faulty oil pressure sensor/wiring/combination, or the light might be trying to tell you something else (e.g., low oil level). Check the owner's manual." Aktuell:

Man oh man... If this thing only measures or checks from 2000 rpm, you can basically forget about it. Many people drive their TDIs almost exclusively below 2000 rpm. By the time the light blinks, the engine is probably already damaged... 99er G4 GTI AHF mit Kaufmann Stufe 1-Tuning, 173.000 km

Well, most people, even if it's unintentional, will sometimes exceed 2000 rpm .
"That's actually the case, at least in my experience. So, it's not something I made up or read somewhere. I once disconnected the sensor and drove with an oil pressure gauge." Aktuell:

Basically, it's like that.
In our ALH Ibiza, the AI system "already" activates the closed oil pressure switch at approximately 1500 rpm, but the warning only appears with a delay of about 1 second, potentially not until 2500 rpm when accelerating in lower gears.
With the Polo-KI, you can still adjust the alarm threshold, although the minimum value is 1500. Gruß Ulf
