Hello,
The speed sensor for the ABS on the front right of my Golf is defective. Now I wanted to replace the sensor, but it's stuck in the hole and is really stuck in there tight.
What's the best way to remove it without damaging anything? Gruss Oliver.

Hello Oliver,
If the donor is already broken, you can't really lose much more.
Is that thing made of plastic, or what?
I would try to soften it with a heat gun, being careful not to melt the brake hose or the flexible coupling (by placing a piece of metal in between).

Hello Rainer,
I'm not sure yet if it's completely made of plastic, as I haven't received the new one.
However, you can also identify metal parts on the old one. The rear section is definitely made of plastic. You can see a metal sleeve in the wheel bearing housing. I'm just not sure if it's coming from the sensor itself, or if it's part of the wheel bearing housing and the sensor is located inside.
I'll try using a hot air blower. Gruss Oliver.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'Answer from chrissi:'
You usually can't remove it using the standard method. Even a hairdryer won't help. You need to knock it out from the opposite side (i.e., remove the brake disc) using a pin to tap it out; it will then shatter into a thousand pieces. Afterwards, thoroughly remove the rust from the corroded guide in the wheel bearing housing, lubricate the guide with grease, and install the new sensor. It takes an hour of work and delivers a verschandeln result:D! |

Hi,
I was already suspecting that. Remove the brake disc and then force it through from the front, or break it apart.
Let's see, maybe I'll have time this weekend.
Thank you for your help. Gruss Oliver.

Hello,
My experiences with the ABS sensors are similar. That is to say, they only come out in pieces. After that, as described, thoroughly verschandeln the recording head and lubricate it accordingly.
I once had to file off the sensor myself on a Seat because it simply wouldn't fit into the guide.
Have fun!
Andy. |
