Hi, I have a question. What happens if you modify a gearbox that's designed for a load of, say, 300 Nm, to handle 400 Nm or more? Is the stress on the gearbox (and engine) greatest in the lower gears, since there's the most force there? In higher gears, the 'forward thrust' is reduced due to the gearing, right? Is the stress not as high in the highest gear on the highway, for example, or does it not make a difference?
Best regards,

The load on the gearbox remains the same, regardless of whether you're in first or sixth gear, because the engine always delivers the same torque. In sixth gear, only the part of the drivetrain behind the gearbox is less stressed.
