Hello,

'For the past few days, I've been having a problem where the floor on the driver's side, both in the front and back, is completely wet, almost soaked! It's starting to smell weird, and putting newspapers on it doesn't really help.'
What could be the cause? Could there be a leak somewhere, or is water getting in?
Could it be that this is happening because of something in the ground, perhaps through a hole?

Has anyone ever experienced this problem before, and what's the best way to track down the cause?

(Volkswagen Golf 3 Variant TDI, manufactured in August 1995).

Sure, no problem! Just provide the text you want me to translate.

Hello.

Hi,

I would say it's a standard problem icon_smile.gif.
Check if there's any moisture on the underside of the door panel. If there is, you can disassemble the door and either re-glue or replace the seal.
The entire process can also be easily checked by having a second person hold a garden hose against the side window, while someone sits inside and observes where the water is leaking in. icon_evil.gif

Hello,

In my case, the problem was caused by the door seals, which had been damaged by unprofessional speaker installation, allowing water to enter in the most unexpected ways.
The best approach, as mentioned above, is to spray the car with a garden hose while someone is looking inside. Removing the rocker panel trim beforehand is very helpful.

Best regards,
Albrecht.

Hello,

'I also had a water leak in my Golf 3. In my case, it was the sealing ring that seals the cable for the hood. It was a very small hole, almost invisible.'

Nico.
