Hello,

First of all, I wish all the participants in the forum a happy new year and hope you experience few problems with your cars.
However, let's get to my problem.
I'm having problems with the hydraulic clutch actuation on my Golf 3.
After a cold night, the clutch pedal has dropped down approximately 3-4 cm.
You can then pull it back up with your foot, and it will stay in place for the whole day.
It only fell back down the next morning.
Two months ago, the brake fluid was changed, and the clutch was bled at the same time. I'm therefore going to rule out air as a possibility.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Gruss Oliver.

Hello!

Okay, I don't want to mislead you, but we had a similar issue with our Mercedes C-Class once. It happened even after changing the brake fluid. In our case, the master cylinder located above the pedal was defective. Whether this is related to the change is speculation, but it's definitely worth checking.

I'm not familiar with the G3, but is there possibly a return spring on the clutch pedal in addition to the return force provided by the clutch itself? If so, she is likely no longer among the living.

'When I recently replaced my clutch, I initially had no pressure on the pedal, which is understandable. But it didn't come back! I don't think there's a spring. In my case, it was air in the system. I had a spongy clutch for two or three days. I wanted to bleed it, but I didn't have time. Now, after a few days and a lot of pumping, the clutch is working perfectly again, without needing to be bled.' It had also sunk slightly overnight before.

Maybe she will come back someday. Or maybe you should bleed the system sometime.

Hello,

Thank you for the answers.
I'm going to bleed the hydraulics again, let's see if it makes a difference.
Right next to the pedal, there's still a spring, which I'll also check.
Gruss Oliver.
