CTN to ASD Gearbox Replacement

Hello,
Recently, I had a transmission failure, and since a friend of mine recently totaled his Golf III, I could get his transmission at a good price.

Okay, here's my problem: I drive a Passat TDI with 90 horsepower, manufactured in 1995, engine code 1Z, and transmission code CTN. As I mentioned, my friend has a Golf 3 with the same engine as me, but with a different transmission code, ASD.
Has anyone here had experience with such a swap? Or can someone tell me what the overall effect is, specifically whether the alternative translation of the gearbox has a negative impact, and whether there might be any problems during installation?

It seems there's nothing to suggest otherwise, as technical articles published here indicate that both ASD and CTN gear and engine combinations were used in the Golf. This leads to the reasonable conclusion that the swap is also possible for you. If you're interested in the gear ratio, check the technical articles published here; you can find everything there. I don't think there will be any problems from a mechanical standpoint.

ASD is the gearbox used in the Volkswagen Golf 3 saloon.
CTN for the variant.

Since the TDI models in the standard G3 require 185/60 14 tires, while the wagon (Variant) models require 195/60 14 tires, it's clear that there are differences because the wagon tires are larger.

(I haven't yet compared the tire-to-gear ratios.)
