06-02-2004, 18:59 Subject: AFN Problems: Huge Issues! Part 2 |
Quote |

Hello, fortunately, the valves and the rattling noise turned out today, as you correctly assessed, to be caused by a simple blown fuse. However, since the AFN still has no power, we had to continue searching, and it turned out that there's a ground problem on the MAF sensor (wire red/white), and that's coming from the fuel injection pump. If you disconnect the 3-pin connector to the fuel injection pump (valve for injection timing and fuel shut-off valve), the problem disappears, but unfortunately, the engine won't run like that. The cables, as far as we can see, are in good condition. Can the cables be replaced, or what could be causing the problem? Do I need to remove the pump to fix this, or can it be done without removing it? Will a fuel injection pump from an AHH (90 hp, manual transmission) fit on my AFN?
Greetings from the Harz region.

Hi Dennis,
It looks like there might be a broken cable or another weak point in the positive wire that supplies power to the mass airflow sensor (MAF) and the fuel injector control.
The device draws a relatively large amount of power, causing the voltage to drop.
It seems to be sufficient for the LMM alone.
Solution: Replace the cables from "before" the weak point to the mass airflow sensor (MAF) and the fuel injector control. Gruß Ulf

Hi Dennis,
I don't understand how the car is already at the official dealer, but they don't know what to do.
Where are the measured values for: mass airflow/fuel temperature/fuel delivery limits/injection timing check/fuel injector adjustment, and all that other stuff?
Is he measuring something, or does he have a glass ball the size of a soccer ball that he looks into?
Otherwise: Borrow a laptop and a VAGInterface, or, if necessary, buy a VAG-Com. You'll always be able to sell it for a few euros less. (On E***).
Measure it yourself, put the values here, and we can do something with them.
Even though it's annoying that you still have to think for yourself despite having a workshop, at least we have the information we need for the VAG vehicles. (And we don't have to translate it from some obscure source or anything like that.)
After you've considered replacing the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) module, keep in mind that for the same amount of money, you can get a VAG-Com diagnostic tool along with a basic laptop.

Hi Garth,
Did you not know that? That is the new VAG diagnostic system }.
After the 1551 etc. was hardly accepted by the workshops, something more modern was needed, something that is easier to use }.
(Even though it doesn't really advance the topic, I just had to get that off my chest...) Gruß Ulf

Actually, I wanted to add something really mean on top of that, but the more I think about it, the more it just seems sad – and the people it affects don't find it funny anymore.
More than ever, the saying applies: 'He who causes the damage should take care of the wreckage,' but that's not what's happening. The 'friendly' forces are dealing with it, and they're not even truly to blame, they're simply overwhelmed.
I know what's coming next, and we don't owe that to the manufacturers, but to assholes like Tritt-ihn!
Okay, what's next? Will the tractors be on sale soon?

No, I'm going to change it again -> he will probably be gone by the end of February. If no one wants to buy him privately, he will go to a dealer (trade-in). Gruß Ulf
