Hello,
Does deactivating the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) affect the amount of soot produced and therefore the mileage until the next long-life service? It seems like it should, since a deactivated DPF would presumably release less soot from the back. Or have I misunderstood something?
Regards,
Jürgen.

Hi jti,
What else can I say about this?!?
The deactivation of the automatic gearbox (AGR) does not affect the long-life service interval.

Probably yes. The oil's wear is not measured directly but estimated based on operating conditions. Gruß Christian

Hi,
When an EGR system is deactivated, less soot is produced because there is simply less soot being "generated," not because the existing soot remains somewhere else (e.g., in the oil). Therefore, you don't need to worry about the Loglife service; instead, you should be concerned about the car's operating permit, which expires when the EGR system is deactivated.

Hi.
DadSome manufacturers claim that even with extended service intervals of 90,000 km, the oil can maintain its lubricating properties without degradation.
Regards,
Hermann.

There's nothing to add to the comments except that the amount of nitrogen oxides increases when you close the EGR valve because this raises the combustion temperature.
Otherwise, it only has advantages.

... and therefore, the oil temperature also increases (slightly), and the control unit assumes a higher load. Consequently, the service life interval could even shorten.
The oil temperature (and its temperature profile) is the most important factor to consider when calculating the service interval. Gruß Bertil

Well, then I can reassure you...
My car needs to go in for servicing at 42,600 km.
The EGR valve has been defective since the car reached a mileage of 3000 km.

'Yes, me too. The oil temperature is not affected by the EGR system. I've already tested this on an ALH engine, and it won't be any different on an AWX engine.'
And with the AWX engine, the AGR (Automatic Guided Reading) system has been 'defective' since kilometer : 7, and according to the longlife maintenance schedule, the timing chain needs replacement only at 32,000 km, given my driving style. This is an extremely good value for the AWX engine, but compared to Gremlin's value, it pales in envy.
