Longlife Service: Your Questions Answered

Hello fellow DIY enthusiasts!

My vehicle is an Audi A4 2.0 TDI, engine code MKZ BLB, manufactured in February 2005.

I recently had my first service, and what surprised me was that there's no evidence of flexible maintenance intervals on my car. Although it has "LongLife" (according to the handover documentation and VAG-Com oil quality = 2), in my case, the kilometers driven are linearly deducted from the maximum distance (=30,000 km). This means that after a service reminder, there's a period of 500 km with no warning, and then the remaining distance (29,500 km) is reduced in increments of 100 km based on the actual kilometers I drive.

I've already tried making changes by adjusting channels 40 to 49, and every change is logically incorporated into the remaining distance calculation, but it always remains linear as described above.

I followed the order when saving the values; I interpreted the instructions as requiring channel 45 to be saved first and channel 49 to be saved last.

In measurement block 005, field 1 contains the remaining distance, field 2 contains the remaining time, field 3 indicates whether the hood is open or closed, and field 4 contains a value that, if no changes are made to channels 40 through 49 after resetting the service interval, approximately corresponds to the remaining distance. Fields 1 and 2 are also visible on the display of the instrument cluster.

Just one more note: The QG1 coding is not present in my car. However, the dealer told me that it hasn't been used at least since the introduction of the facelift, as all vehicles in Central Europe are delivered with a LongLife service interval; this is also stated in the maintenance booklet.

My questions now are:
Do I even have a problem? (Or has the maximum maintenance interval become the standard for all WIV systems?) If so, what should I do?
What else can I do to still qualify for the flexible maintenance intervals?

I don't want to switch to standard intervals because, as someone who rides frequently, I would have to go under the car every 4 months .
