Hello everyone,

I have unfortunately obtained an incorrect wiring diagram for my ASZ Polo (which will be registered on February 19th icon_razz.gif icon_biggrin.gif). It's a diagram for the ATD/AXR engine. I'm initially assuming that the ASZ engine differs from it only in minor details.

The SLP only shows one oil pressure sensor, while the AFN, for example, has two sensors (one on the pump and one on the transmission), whose signals are evaluated based on engine speed.

Does anyone know why they've reverted to the primitive one-switch solution for PD motors, and how the evaluation process works?

The basic output circuits also include ASV and ALH.

The switch is a normally closed switch (it connects to ground when 'pressure OK'). If there is no oil pressure at approximately 1700 RPM, an alarm will be triggered.
Here, it's easy to check; simply disconnect the cable and provide the speed.

I suspect the reason for the return of the one-switch solution is simply money.
Furthermore: millions of engines have absolutely no problems with this type of monitoring icon_wink.gif.
I just wonder, 'Why do they need two oil pressure switches? Could there have been a flaw in the engineering?'

CU Gremlin.

Hi Ulf,

While not directly related to the topic...

Quote:

He will be approved on February 19th.

...but we're expecting a very detailed report, right?

Best regards,

hey ulf,

Now things are getting serious, or what? And the much-hated PD will soon be on the farm. icon_cool.gif

My 96kW PD engine also only has one oil pressure sensor. It has been working perfectly so far.

Why is it wrong, I have an AXR icon_wink.gif icon_biggrin.gif?

Normally, yours shouldn't be too different from that.

@bertil,

We can only hope that our ULF doesn't have the same problems as you do. Otherwise, he'll be jumping out of his pants! icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Ralf,

With this solution, in my opinion, you can let a motor idle until it fails, without any warning, icon_eek.gif icon_question.gif icon_evil.gif.

So, for example, if someone icon_evil.gif messes up an oil change and doesn't put in new oil, and then drives the car at low RPMs... -> goodbye, engine icon_twisted.gif.

@JanViewing profile: Jan:
What kind of report are you expecting?

Blah blah about how great and how beautiful and how (not) equipped it is - that's actually not what I wanted to introduce here new_tomato.gif.

Once it's broken in, I can provide some performance data, such as acceleration times. Before that, if you're interested, I can share some initial data, for example, about the transmission (RPM vs. km/h) or similar information.

Otherwise, perhaps about aggressive behavior in polo ponies (hopefully not).

Well, we'll see.

But of course, I'm still curious.

Here's a little something to look forward to regarding the price list:
I had expected that the standard ESP system would be deactivated and that I would retain the ASR and EDS functions, which should have been indicated by a corresponding "ASR Off" switch.

However, there is no switch, and therefore it is likely "just" ABS, which is the minimum standard equipment.
I probably would have had to re-order the ASR (for 200 Euros) after canceling the ESP (saving 250 Euros).
But that probably wouldn't have been possible, because "ASR: not available for 74 and 96 kW engines, as it is standard equipment" }.

That's only due to software pirates.

ASZ without ASR? That would be typical VW again.
as if we hadn't warned you about it icon_twisted.gif.

Buy a Skoda. ALH model with ABS/ASR/EDS/MSR, and optionally WITHOUT ESP icon_razz.gif.

@ulf

You should be happy, because, in my opinion, you can forget about ASR.

Okay, so without ASR, I can't even get away from the traffic light when the road is wet... icon_twisted.gif

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

While I don't want to contradict Ralf, things aren't quite that simple with my awx. In the instrument cluster, you can immediately see after starting the engine whether the oil pressure is correct and exceeds the required 2 bar. This is independent of the engine speed.

and the ALH (or, more precisely, the VDO instrument cluster from VW/Skoda) ignored the lack of oil pressure at idle until very recently.

I'm telling you, it's a software issue.

Where savings are made, savings are made... icon_rolleyes.gif

If you start your ALH engine and there's no oil in it, would it run until it fails without any warning? Really? Did the phone technicians at Skoda/VW also consider that the driver might hear the squeaking from the pistons, etc., so that they would add oil? icon_smile.gif

Hi Julian,

Then, in your SLP, there should be more to find than just 1 oil pressureswitch?
-> Pressure source, etc.
Do you know how your system is structured?

And what car are you currently driving?
