Hello.
Perhaps someone here can help me.
I have a Touran 2.0 TDI that is only 4 months old and has 4500 km on the odometer.
The following has happened to me several times:
'When I shift from first to second gear and accelerate, nothing happens for about a second, and then it accelerates normally. For a brief moment, it feels like the engine has stalled. My mechanic is at a loss.'
Regards,
Sahin.

Are there any error entries in the memory? It's indeed a strange error. Does it only happen when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, or also with other gear changes? Is it reproducible or sporadic?

Hello,
Perhaps, once again, power supply relays from North Africa were installed, and these relays have a tendency for their pins to detach.
Best regards, Rainer.

Thank you for the quick responses.
I don't know if there are any error entries in the memory, but I believe there aren't any.
It's also not reproducible. So far, it's only happened to me when I started in first gear and tried to shift to second, and for a moment, nothing happened.
Regards,
Sahin.

Hello,
Guaranteed AGR.
You can try disconnecting it temporarily, although to my knowledge, this will create an error message, but the engine will continue to run normally, meaning it won't go into a limp mode.

There's definitely a problem, and a warning light is flashing. Ulf just experienced this himself with his Polo!

I'm just saying.
But for testing purposes, that's fine. The AGR (Abgasrückführung - exhaust gas recirculation) is disabled, the engine is running normally, and we're going to do a test to see if the noticeable delay when shifting is also gone.
After that, clear the error memory.
Where is the problem?

Great forum.
Thank you for the helpful answers.
Is AGR what you mean by exhaust gas recirculation?
'This issue doesn't happen to me very often, so I can't say for sure that it was the EGR valve. If I drive without the EGR valve today and it doesn't happen, then I can be more certain that it was the EGR valve.'
If I think about it, it might be every 500 kilometers.
Will disconnecting the EGR valve by the workshop damage the engine if I drive several hundred kilometers with it disconnected? Or should it be replaced immediately?
Regards,
Sahin.

Hello,
Perhaps simply checking the EGR valve (yes, it's related to exhaust gas recirculation) might be enough. Maybe a hose has been chewed on or something similar.
Definitely take it back to the workshop, you still have a warranty.
Nothing can happen without AGR (Abgasrückführung). It's not legal, but for analysis purposes, it should be possible, even over hundreds of kilometers.
My EGR valve in my PD115 PS AJM engine has been defective for 80,000 km.

Okay, since we're talking about the Touran: Where is the diagnostic connector socket located?

Is it also located in the bottom left corner, like in all the newer models?

I didn't see anything. But he also has the fuse box in the engine compartment. In the Golf IV 1.6 16V, it was hidden in the ashtray.
Do you know where the [component] is located on a Passat 3B with a 115 hp PD engine (AJM)?
Best regards, WarLord.

On the 3BG model, it's located under the steering wheel! You have to crouch down next to the car and look from underneath the paneling, and then you'll see something purple. I think it's similar on the 3B model!

@warlord
In the Touran, on the lower left side, you'll find a small compartment that opens. Open the lid and remove it (bend back the retaining clips at the top, it's clipped in at the bottom). You'll then see some fuses at the back, and the diagnostic connector is located in the cutout on the right side.
like in the 1995 Seat Ibiza...
The Touran actually has several fuse boxes, conveniently located throughout the vehicle. A great idea...
In the Passat, the connector is located below the steering column. Just look upwards from the perspective of the pedals .

I picked up my Touran from the service yesterday.
Regarding the engine stalling issue, they couldn't find anything. There were no error codes in the memory. They also test drove the car. That's all they did. I could have saved myself that time. They weren't interested in the suggested solutions from the forum. They made comments like 'the forum is full of nonsense.' I think I need to find a different workshop.
Regards,
Sahin.

@Gremlin
By the way, the connector on the Passat is not located at the steering column, but in the center console.
