Does this connector fit a Volkswagen Golf 4?

Hello!

I saw this plug at a house clearance sale and took a picture of it, but neither I nor the person holding the clearance sale know if it would fit and work in my Golf IV.
Before I buy the adapter and the expensive software, it would certainly be interesting to know if they could potentially work together. Serial cable included.
Could it even be someone from the diesel mechanics' online shop?
