Pea noises in the Golf TDI partial load range! TURBO!?

Hi everyone!

I've noticed that my engine makes a whistling or screeching sound, especially when I'm coming to a stop from accelerating. It's a sort of high-pitched squeal.
It happens both when the engine is warm and cold, but less often when it's warm.
It also happens repeatedly with the same pedal position.
The engine performance is normal.
I'm wondering if this is a sign of a problem that I should be concerned about.
It's quite loud, which is annoying.
It's a 90 horsepower (1Z) engine.
