hello,
This weekend, I partially disassembled my intake manifold and was shocked to see how much oil was inside and how much was caked onto the intake manifold runner... Now, here's my question:
Has anyone ever blocked off the crankcase ventilation system and rerouted it back into the engine block/oil pan via a separate collector?
Has anyone tried this before and noticed any negative or positive effects? At the very least, oil deposits should disappear after a certain amount of time.
another question regarding the AGR.
'The connector on the EGR valve has broken off for me -> this means the connection is open, and the EGR system is not being activated. Does the electrically controlled valve now have a problem with this, and is it reporting to the control unit that something is wrong? Or does it not matter?'

No, the EGR valve doesn't detect if a pneumatic connection is faulty. However, the broken connection or hose should be sealed, otherwise unnecessary vacuum will be consumed, and dirt could be sucked in.
If the electrical connection is broken, a dummy resistor with a similar value to the valve's coil, with a power rating of 4 watts, can help. The control unit won't detect anything then. A closed EGR system (KGE) should only form an oil film in the intake manifold, not a crust. An oil film is harmless. Using a closed EGR system connected to the intake manifold is perfectly fine from an engine perspective, as long as you don't have poor compression due to excessive blow-by.
The crust likely dates back to the AGR era. It's a mixture of oil and soot.
Best regards,

hi,
I'm planning to disassemble everything and thoroughly clean it when I replace the turbocharger soon. Actually, does the turbocharger have a gasket for the connection to the exhaust manifold? I couldn't find anything about it in the documentation.
Are there any further optimization possibilities if I've already taken everything apart?
Can the AGR valve be pushed open by the exhaust gases even though it's deactivated (I'm running 1.5 bar of pressure, and the connection isn't yet sealed with a plate)?

Hi Micha,
How do you achieve 1.5 bar of pressure with a 1Z engine?
Does it only have a sensor up to 1 bar (which would be 2 bar absolute pressure?)

Also, 1Z, but I haven't done anything yet. Transparency, Teamwork

hi martin,
There were later engine control units (ECUs) for the 1Z engine that came with a 2.5-inch sensor. I have one of those installed in my car.
That's how it works.

Ah.
Do you have the STG number?
I thought that only the AHUs or the MSA15 models had the large sensor.
Does that mean it's correct, and there was a 1Z model with MSA15?
I have a part number 028 906 021 AF.

Hi Martin,
My 1Z has an MSA15 (021BF). It was first registered in May '96.
Best regards, Rudi.

Okay, then I probably have one of the last MSA12 models (12/95) .
The identifying feature is the motor control unit (ECU) housing - I have a plastic one, but you must have had a metal one?

Hi Martin,
Okay! That's the metal casing. Inside, it's just a circuit board with a...
C166 controller (not the older folding design with the two 80517 chips).
The boost pressure sensor measures up to 2.5 bar.
Best regards, Rudi.

My ECU is still untouched, at least I haven't cracked it yet .
But I probably only have the 2 bar sensor installed, even though it has already given me larger readings?!?

The 021AF is the latest revision of the MSA12. Identical units were also used in the Sharan family.
I've used these for a long time (I even disassembled one once). I mean, even back then, there was already the...
A 2.5 bar sensor is installed. Therefore, your displayed reading is likely to be correct.
Best regards, Rudi.
