Hello,

Has anyone ever removed the charger from a 1Z in a 35i?
What's the best way to access it? Unfortunately, the loader is stuck between the engine block and the fender, and also quite low down.
What should I be aware of during the disassembly process? Will there be a lot of oil leakage? Do I need to replace any seals?
And now for the main question: Does it actually make a difference to remove the turbocharger, i.e., can I verschandeln and lubricate the wastegate and its mechanism myself?

The background is that I'm still not satisfied with the boost pressure curve. The pressure is still building up too late...

Thank you in advance for your responses...

Sure, here's the translation:

'Doc.'

P.S.: Does anyone have a link with pictures of a wastegate turbocharger or similar?

Hi.

Before you have nothing to look at, here are some pictures of the VNT-15 (Garrett), which is a VTG turbocharger (using KKK terminology).

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Oh Martin, you are so good to me... icon_biggrin.gif

I'm familiar with that. I was hoping there would be something similar for the 1Z turbocharger (what is that part actually called? Is it also a Garrett?).
Sooner or later, I'll tackle it. Then I'll just create the images. Hopefully, it won't be one of those 'do not do this' tutorials...

Nevertheless, thank you very much! icon_smile.gif

The turbocharger for the 1Z engine was available from both Garrett and KKK.

I have no idea what his name is. Something like "limp frog" or something icon_wink.gif.

I also want a VTG icon_evil.gif.

What are you saying icon_cool.gif icon_question.gif? The little one is quite sturdy icon_exclaim.gif.
So far, he hasn't done anything wrong in my eyes.

@Rudi
It might be a bit childish to beg for a private message, but since I also have a '1Z' (likely referring to a specific item or status), I'd also be interested in these things. Could you please send me the private message as well?

Best regards,

Dominique.

Hi Dominique,
PM is going out icon_cool.gif.

@ everyone
I'm still in the experimental phase. I will post it here when it's finished.
Write about it.

Best regards, Rudi.

@rudi

Could you perhaps give me a few tips for my initial questions? icon_cry.gif Or is the charging port on the Golf located in a more strategically advantageous position?

@ Doc

No.

The engines are the same and installed in the same way.

1Z in a Volkswagen Golf 3.

HELLO,

Okay, I just wanted to ask if it's possible to reseal the charging port yourself.
Or the corresponding parts thereof.

'Because I'm noticing more and more oil leaking out of the pressure lines.'

I have no idea how that works regarding pressure buildup.

Should I just have it completely overhauled instead? The car has 212,000 kilometers on it and a 1Z engine.

Greetings.

@Martin

Okay. Just as humble...
Have you ever used the charger outdoors before?

@roadagain

Which pressure lines are you referring to, or where is the oil leaking from?
If I were you, I would definitely take a closer look at how the turbocharger is building boost before immediately having it rebuilt.
Oil in the thick pipes leading to and from the crankcase ventilation system is perfectly normal.

@ Doc

Nope, I haven't put anything outside yet.

And if that's the case, then first the intake manifold and the EGR valve need to be checked (the EGR valve always makes strange noises icon_wink.gif and probably needs to be repaired with a piece of metal).

What should it look like?

Is a standard boost gauge sufficient?

Greetings.

Basically, yes, it's always better to have something like that in the car.
Otherwise, perform a diagnostic test using VAG-COM.
