Hello.

I'm a new member of this forum and would like to ask how to adjust the injection timing of the pump. I believe it's a VP37 pump. I've used VAG-COM and found that the injection timing is too early (below the red line).

Many thanks, and please excuse my poor German.

Best regards.

'Where can I find a diagram showing the relationship between injection timing, engine speed, and load? I have a TDI engine, 1Z, 66kW, manufactured in 1994, with 220,000 km on the odometer.'
The dynamic setting (channel 00, start of injection) is within the permissible range, and rather on the lower end.

However, when I check the settings at idle (display group number 004: start of injection) or at 2000 rpm, I see an injection point of 0 or 1. Shouldn't it be more? Something like 10 degrees before top dead center?

Where can I find the correct values for 1Z? I tested it at a friendly workshop using a VAS device. However, the workshop didn't have any documentation for such old engines.

As long as it starts well and the performance and fuel consumption are good -> never change a running system icon_wink.gif.

Okay, I understand. However, the engine has started to stutter (a slight stutter). That's why I wanted to check the easily controllable values first.
I received an instruction manual for starting up the AFD TDI industrial engine. It has the same engine block and fuel injection pump, and the control unit is almost the same (028 906 021JL versus 028 906 021B). Perhaps the turbocharger is different (VTG versus wastegate). The AFD manual specifies an injection timing of 6 to 13 degrees before top dead center (BTDC) for idle, but my measurements show 0 to 2 degrees BTDC.
Is there similar documentation (commissioning) available for 1Z? What's included in the Erwin (siehe Fehlerdatenbank) documentation? Does it contain the configuration values? Is it worth buying? I have the Etzold book and the other 'Jetzt helfe ich mir selbst' book, and both contain almost no information.
I suspect my engine misfire is caused by a faulty fuel injector, but before I open the fuel injection pump, I want to check everything else.

Your AFN is also included in this forum table!

http://www.dieselschrauber.de/Solldaten_4_Zylinder_VE.html

You can find all the required setpoints in the table.
And don't confuse idle speed with full load.

Best regards, Georg.
