Hi everyone,
My engine seems to be 'wandering' a bit in the engine bay. I've experienced this before with my Golf 2. I was wondering how much movement is considered normal? I can see it quite clearly when I accelerate sharply in first gear without the hood on, or when I start the car using the handbrake. These are likely to be about 4-8 cm, and the motor moves upwards and backwards.
Can I adjust the front engine mount? I only found a description for G4 and A3 models in the help section. Perhaps someone can tell me if this is also possible with the G3.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I recently replaced the front one (G3 AFN). It's a solid rubber bushing with a lot of rubber material. There's nothing to adjust. It costs 50€. The replacement is easy. Use a hydraulic jack to lift the car. Loosen two screws. Replace the bushing, and lower the car. The bracket does not need to be unscrewed. |

120,000 km. But it wasn't the front one. I only changed it because I had a problem with the front one on my other car (a TD), and I thought it might be the same issue on this TDI. Unfortunately, my problem hadn't disappeared because of that. |

Since my TD is experiencing a lot of stuttering, I wanted to ask how the problems manifested themselves in your TD. I suspect it hasn't been changed even once in all those 215,000 kilometers. Is it time to replace it? |

I only heard about it from an acquaintance. And as far as I know, in the TD engine, the front bearing is also a hydrostatic bearing, while in the TDI engine, it's a rubber bearing. I myself have a TDI. |

The car has 145,000 kilometers on the odometer, and the engine has 95,000 kilometers. |

My tires will soon have over 100,000 kilometers (approximately 62,000 miles) on them.
Okay, here's a question:
A Golf II TD with 70 horsepower is much quieter than my AAZ (1.9 75 horsepower) in my Golf III.
Is it a problem with my diesel engine, or is it related to the sound insulation, or could it be the engine mounts, which would make the engine quieter if I replaced them?
At 160 km/h, I can almost only hear the engine. A second-generation Golf only produces wind noise. |
