hi all,

I hope I'm posting in the correct forum section!

Okay, so my problem is that for about 3 months now, I've been getting a small puddle of condensation water on the passenger side whenever I use the air conditioning. I've already checked and it seems like the water is simply forming due to condensation on the outside of the air conditioning unit (or at least, that's what I think). I was hoping someone might know a solution or what could be causing this.

I'm not sure either. I heard there's supposed to be a drain hose for condensation, but if I had removed it, the water would just leak out of the hose (which I haven't even found yet). But since the entire plastic housing of the air conditioner gets so cold that condensation forms on it, I'm not sure what to do anymore... How is that possible? Could the problem be somewhere else?

'The plastic box where the air conditioning unit is always so cold that condensation forms on it. Or maybe the air conditioning unit has shifted so that it's now directly against the plastic casing, and that's causing the water.'

I would be grateful for any advice! I'd really like to solve the problem myself because I suspect it will cost much more than 2.50 euros if I take it to a repair shop.

Regarding the data.

I drive a Passat 3B sedan, manufactured in October 1996, with an AFN engine and climatronic. I think that's all you need to know.

Thank you in advance, and I hope someone can offer advice because driving without air conditioning at 35 degrees Celsius is already unbearable.

'Thank you.'

Hello,

Okay, take the carpet out from under the glove compartment, and feel around where it's coming from with the AC turned on. You should actually be able to see where the water is running (it's like a small stream icon_wink.gif). A friend of mine had the same problem with his Passat. I don't remember exactly what it was caused by, but I know the problem was located under the glove compartment. It should be running down on the left side of the glove compartment, so check there.

Regards,

'I found it! It was the condensate drain hose that was clogged with pollen from the filter, which caused the water to build up. I have no idea how or why. Anyway, the hose runs under the carpet to the cat, and then drains. Apparently, the water had built up there.'

But now everything is fine, hehe...

Okay, thanks.
