Hello everyone,
Has anyone here already had the workshop campaign 40G4 - Lower control arms for the four-link front axle performed?
This refers to the large recall campaign by VW/Audi at the beginning of May 2004, in which over 800,000 vehicles worldwide (approximately 400,000 in Germany) were to be brought to workshops for inspection of the control arms. The vehicles affected are those with a four-link front axle, manufactured up to approximately 1999.
My A6 (Avant AFB '9

was also affected. I had the two upper control arms replaced on one side (I had managed to replace the other side myself) by a trusted mechanic, and I inquired about the recall campaign. The customer service representative said that action 40G4 would be checked as part of the control arm replacement.
Upon picking up the car in the afternoon, it was confirmed that both lower control arms had been replaced free of charge. Additionally, the necessary wheel alignment (which would have been necessary due to the control arm replacement) had not been charged.
Overall, it's not a bad result! The car drives very comfortably again and follows steering inputs much better (I unfortunately can't say whether it's due to the new control arms or the new tie rods, as they were both replaced at the same time!).
Have you had any experience with the 40G4 steering knuckle topic?
Greetings (hooray, first post)!
Vux.
