Hi everyone!
'I just skipped a tooth on the timing belt! I'm going to get a new one right away, but I'm afraid at least one valve might be damaged. If I have to remove the cylinder head anyway, it might be a good time to consider some performance upgrades. What should I do? What kind of performance gains could I expect?'

Regards,
Doni.

Hello Doni,

'I know very few people who have done that - it's basically only really useful to further enhance an engine that's already been performance-tuned. So, you probably won't achieve a significant increase in power just by having the cylinder head reworked.'
Important: If you have something like this done, make sure it's not done by a company that only specializes in optimizing gasoline engines!
Since the diesel head needs to be modified differently due to the required swirl, that modification is necessary.
Good address for tuning and maintenance of this type: Grundel Motorsport (all4tdi.de).
Keep us updated!
Best regards, Jens.

Hi,

If you're considering having your cylinder head reworked, you should have it crack-tested beforehand. Otherwise, you might end up spending a lot of money on something that ultimately doesn't work.
You should also keep in mind that modifying the cylinder head makes no sense if the diameters of the intake manifold or exhaust manifold remain the same.
The narrowest point ultimately sets the tone.

Here's a picture of one of those cylinder heads. The channels have been widened to match the gasket size and have been measured on a flow bench. It's important not to lose the swirl. The valve guides have been shortened by 1-2mm and adjusted to fit the channel.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide any practical experience yet, as the thing broke icon_rolleyes.gif.
He is being welded now, and hopefully, he will eventually end up on the workbench icon_twisted.gif.

See you later.
Greetings.
Thomas.

Does anyone know of any reputable workshops that currently offer ZK (cylinder head) machining services for TDI engines, and that provide good value for money? I just spoke with dbilas, and the employee who specializes in this work will be out sick for the next few weeks. Since my engine is currently disassembled in front of me, I'd like to get this done soon.

Thank you for your tips/recommendations!

Just a quick question: What's the price of that head as it is? I assume you included the intake/exhaust manifold for the machining? What's the total price?
