AAT Adaptation Channels: A Guide

Hello,

I'm having a problem with excessive soot on my AAT engine. According to the workshop, the fuel pump and injectors (which have already been replaced) are fine. I've now used a diagnostic system (see Michael II's post in the error database) to reduce the fuel injection quantity in channel 1. Now, there's less soot. What is the exact function of the adaptation settings for the AAT engine? (e.g., can I access channel 4?). The original Audi repair manual for the fuel injection system doesn't provide any information on this!

Hello, I'm also having the same problem with the Russ. However, I have an ATD (presumably a type of control unit). Is it possible to reduce the injection amount here as well?
Is this possible through the adaptation channels? If so, can I damage anything? And are the channels the same as on mine?
