My mechanic installed a new turbocharger from a V6 TDI 180HP engine in my car, but he also sealed off the EGR pipes and made sure the intake manifold was airtight.

He said it would increase performance, is that true?

What does the engine do now without EGR?

The problem now is that my car consumes a lot of diesel, 10 liters per 100 kilometers .

Is this due to a deactivated EGR system or the turbocharger from the 180 hp engine?

The amount of fuel injected in the partial load range is only sufficient to produce the power requested by the driver. If more fuel were injected with the same pedal position, the car would accelerate faster, and the driver would automatically ease off the accelerator.
