Hello.

a question,

I drive an Audi A6 with a 2.5L V6 TDI engine.
150 horsepower, AFB.

My mechanic installed a new turbocharger from a V6 TDI 180HP engine in my car, but he also sealed off the EGR pipes and made sure the intake manifold was airtight.

He said it would increase performance, is that true?

What does the engine do now without EGR?

The problem now is that my car consumes a lot of diesel, 10 liters per 100 kilometers icon_cry.gif.

Is this due to a deactivated EGR system or the turbocharger from the 180 hp engine?

'Thank you.'
bye

Hello,

Please avoid posting the same content multiple times! I have deleted your second post.

Please refer to the "Deactivation of the AGR" article under "Technical Articles" for information about the AGR (Automatic Gearbox Restriction).

Regards,
Sure.

Here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Guste" means "gust" in English. It refers to a sudden and strong gust of wind.

It only runs with fresh, verschandeln air icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif.
More power? No!
Improved responsiveness -- YES.
Higher fuel consumption: Possibly, yes, because in the partial load range, more air is drawn through the mass airflow sensor (MAF), which can result in more fuel being injected.

The amount of fuel injected in the partial load range is only sufficient to produce the power requested by the driver. If more fuel were injected with the same pedal position, the car would accelerate faster, and the driver would automatically ease off the accelerator. I would rather say that fuel consumption slightly decreases because you don't have to press the pedal further all the time until the turbo kicks in.

@leonardo
Was only the turbocharger replaced, or were any changes made to the software as well? If the latter is true, then that's likely where the cause of the increased fuel consumption lies.

edit:
Did you buy the turbos in a pack of two, or did you throw one away?

As far as I know,

Is the front loader exactly the same for both the AFB 150 HP and the 180 HP models?
I believe there is only one spare part number for the 2.5L TDI engine.

The consumption will decrease because the efficiency increases when the EGR valve is closed.

Best regards, WarLord.
