Rust on a 1999 Passat Variant

Hello everyone,

Recently, I noticed rust on the door frame, specifically the window frame, of my Passat. The rust seems to be coming from inside and pushing through the paint. It's almost always located near a seal. Has anyone else experienced something similar? What are the chances of getting it covered under warranty? I have a 10 (or maybe 12) year warranty against corrosion, but it hasn't completely rusted through yet.

I would appreciate any tips you can offer.

I can't give you any specific advice, but I noticed the same thing a few weeks ago (my car is from February 1998). I'm going to take it to Volkswagen to have them check it out.

Could you please provide me with your vehicle's VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)? It would be helpful for identifying the production location; the VIN is usually found at the front of the service booklet.
