Hello everyone!
I'm having a problem with my A3:
'For the past few days, since it's gotten colder, my speedometer on my A3 hasn't been working correctly. Around 15, 35, and 70 km/h, the needle jumps erratically across the display. Shortly after reaching these speeds, everything seems fine again, only to start jumping wildly again at the next speed (both increasing and decreasing). As I've noticed, this problem 'since it's gotten colder' means that after a while, about 5-10 minutes of driving, everything is okay again and the speedometer works normally. I was thinking it might be a cold solder joint, but why only at those specific speeds. The speedometer hasn't been removed yet. Before I start taking things apart, here are my questions:'
Is this a known issue?
- Could the sender be at fault?
- Perhaps there's a cold solder joint in the instrument cluster after all?
- Elsewhere in a forum, someone mentioned that a similar (but less precisely described) issue was known to Audi.
Is there a solution without replacing the combination instrument?
Thank you for your efforts!
My A3:
Issue 5/2000.
Approximately 95,000 kilometers.
1.9 TDI engine, 90 horsepower.
