hi,
I'm new here and have already read a lot about converting AFN to 1Z.
'I'm also curious if it's possible to get an AFN engine running using a 1Z engine control unit (ECU) and a turbocharger. I have engine damage in my 1Z engine, which is installed in a VW T3, and I could get an AFN engine at a good price, but I don't have an AFN ECU and I don't have space for the original turbocharger.'
Can anyone give me some advice on this?

Hi,
Let's try something different... Most people always try to convert a 1Z engine to run on AFN.
to get more performance.
If the AFN loader really doesn't fit for you, you need to remove the exhaust manifold from...
1Z, also rebuild it.
The AFN control unit can be easily integrated (okay, you do have to replace the PLCC EEPROMs).
can be eliminated - and the base) brought to a 1Z dataset.
If you post the part number of the AFN STG, I can find a suitable 1Z for you.
send.
I would leave the .205 nozzles in; the AFN performs slightly better with them.
Best regards, Rudi.
EDIT: Those who can read have a clear advantage...
Wen du den Lader umbaust, kannst du das STG evtl. einfach drinlassen. What?
What is the part number for your 1Z control unit?

I'll check the serial number on the engine to see what it is. From what I've read, the water pump from the 1Z engine doesn't fit the engine block of the AFN engine. Is that correct?

The 1Z engine originally came from a Golf 3 manufactured in December 1993. Does this information help with the engine control unit (ECU)?

geraten müsste ein 028906021C drin sein. It might work.
The water pump depends on the AFN model.
'When the short timing belt is installed (it only runs over the crankshaft, camshaft, eccentric shaft, and ESP),...'
The spanner and the pulley could still be very similar.
If the timing belt runs over the water pump, you may need to replace the hoses.
modify.
Best regards, Rudi.

The timing belt on the AFN engine only runs over the crankshaft, exhaust camshaft, and water pump. I just thought that the block might be different in that area.

Hi!
The AFN engine block differs from the 1Z only in the pistons. However, I don't know exactly how those pistons are different! I think they might have been strengthened for more power. If you take all the parts from a 1Z (e.g., ESP, ECU, turbo, etc.), you essentially have a 1Z engine again. If you use the injectors from an AFN (0.205 size), you'll get a little more power.
Best, Timo.

According to the information available to me , the water pumps are the same - almost all G3 4-cylinder engines have the same water pump.

hi,
Thank you for the helpful tips.
I will be mounting the injectors and nozzles from the AFN engine and using the turbocharger with the engine control unit (ECU) from a 1Z engine. This is the most cost-effective solution for me, and the resulting performance is perfectly adequate.
