The LMM (likely referring to a mass airflow sensor) and the windshield wiper linkage in my A4 (2.5 TDI, 12/99, 90,000 km) need to be replaced. I bought the car from the dealer 5 months ago. Is this considered a wear and tear item, or is the dealer obligated to replace it? What would something like that likely cost? I would appreciate any advice: Who might know about this?
Best regards from Düsseldorf.

The dealer claims that the mass airflow sensor (MAF) and wiper linkage are wear-and-tear items and are therefore not covered by any warranty. Is he correct?

Interesting perspective.

Neither of these are typically considered wear-and-tear items.

The windshield wiper linkage has never broken on any of my previous cars (except for the Golf IV). On the Golf IV, it failed after only 3 years - in my opinion, this is a design flaw.
The LMM (lambda measuring module) was not originally designed as a wear part, but over time, VW realized that these components could also fail.

I would not accept that, as these parts are not considered wear and tear items, even when compared to other vehicles.
