Electric Starter Problems: Troubleshooting Guide

Hi,

My electric vehicle suddenly lost power on the highway last Friday.
The engine just stopped working. I then had the ADAC (German Automobile Club) tow it home.

While troubleshooting, I discovered that the power supply was only outputting 7V.
'Zündung an' bekommt. Die Batterie selber hat aber noch 12V. The problem is just that...
I don't have a wiring diagram for my Skoda pickup truck. I once tried something out as a test.
If you apply 12V directly from the battery to the solenoid, you will hear it activate.

Now my question: Is the starter motor switched via a relay or directly at the ignition switch?

Or what else could it be due to?

As far as I can remember, the 12V comes directly from the ignition switch.
