'In my VW Golf 4, 1.9 TDI 85KW, manufactured in 2/2000, the ESP light is constantly on. The diagnostic scan revealed the error '01423 Sensor for transverse acceleration G200, error in the electrical circuit 57-00. According to VW, the transverse acceleration sensor on the steering column should be replaced. This device is only available together with the yaw rate sensor and costs approximately 500€ together. I have read in online forums that these sensors were also available separately until the end of production in 2002 (transverse acceleration sensor for 130€). However, my VW dealer is not aware of this. Does anyone have a VW spare part number for the transverse acceleration sensor alone? These parts are also known to fail. However, I can't find any statements about that here. Thank you icon_question.gif'

Hello, I've done some research.
There is a standalone lateral acceleration sensor, but only for vehicles with 4Motion. Otherwise, only the combined sensor (lateral acceleration and steering angle in one) is available.
But maybe the individual sensor will work?
1J1 907 638 B Sensor.
To be used with:
1J1 972 793 Retaining clip.
1J1 972 791 B Retaining bracket.

If you've tried it, I'd be interested to know if it works.

My sensor is defective. (Bora, year 2000)
The exact same error message.

How did you fix it? Was it a loose connection, or did you replace the sensor?

Carsten.

Where is the sensor located?

The sensor is located beneath the steering column.

I had mine replaced, and it cost over €400 for that piece of junk.

Mine should be ready too.
Same appearance as the author of the post...

I read somewhere else that there's an additional connector attached to the battery, and that...
It can also trigger this error even with a loose fit.
It can happen after a hectic inspection...

For a more precise diagnosis, I need to take it back to the workshop.
If the sensor needs to be replaced, I will keep the old one.
and (in my capacity as an electrician), I'll check what's causing it to fail.

I'll get back to you here.

(I wish I had a car as reliable as my old Golf-II TD again, sigh.)

P.S.:
Unfortunately, I was too afraid of the airbag to remove the sensor myself.
and that he might not protect my wife anymore...
