Hello, you experts...
I'm having a problem with my Jetbooster (http://www. ... .de) ... well, actually, it's a few problems.
Since the people at OBD Tuning are only willing to help me for an exorbitant amount of money, which I can't afford, I thought maybe someone here might know something about it...
Here's the thing:
The Jetbooster auxiliary control unit in my (101 hp PD TDI Golf) increases the boost pressure from 1.05 to 1.25 bar. Additionally, I can adjust at which engine speed and pedal position it injects an additional amount of fuel... I've tried everything, but the result is always the same:
'Above a speed of 180 km/h, I experience a near-complete loss of boost pressure after only a few seconds (measured with VAG-COM), which I can't explain. I've tried everything (more fuel, less fuel, a new air filter, you never know), but I always get the same result. What's strange is that the more fuel it gets at this speed, the sooner it loses power (although it's only by a few seconds). When I restart the engine (it's always a bit critical around 200 km/h), it runs normally again until it loses power again. This makes me think that the engine might be going into limp mode, and after restarting the engine control unit, it runs normally again (although there are no error codes in the diagnostic memory).'
Does anyone have any ideas about what I might be doing wrong, or what might be wrong with my engine? Also, does anyone know how to best determine how much more fuel injection I should add at which RPM?
hmpf
'A problem with the part (and then at THAT price (new: €749) ... they don't even send a working 'map' with just one demo file ... + €300 if you want it customized for your vehicle -- I think it's outrageous).'
Well...
If anyone knows anything, please post it or contact me directly.
Thank you.

Hi,

You're absolutely right. The control unit is entering emergency mode!
The reason is that the cheating device was detected.
Whether it was due to the amount of fuel or the boost pressure, that remains to be seen.
Possibly, you can find out more by checking the error memory.

For the given price, you could have also gotten a reasonable tuning package with TÜV approval.
and receive a warranty.
If your salesperson won't deliver the part to you for free and install it so that it works with your...
The car is working, but you probably need to spend the 300 euros.

However, I would remove the part, sell it, and put the proceeds towards the €300.
Put your back into it and do something worthwhile.

Best regards,
Rudi

hm
'That makes sense to me – I've had similar thoughts about sales and the company Oettinger *gg* – but what I don't understand is that the error memory is empty.'
'I mean, even in Windows, there's a log file after a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) ... '

hm
Does anyone know of a way to extend the tolerance limits of the STG (Selective Torque Generator)?

I don't entirely agree with that - what about the warranty/guarantee?

If the part is new, it is the manufacturer's responsibility to either ensure it functions correctly at the purchase price or to take it back at the full price.

For that, you might need a lawyer who is actually good.

Furthermore, I believe that with the introduction of PD (presumably a new technology or standard), the time for add-on boxes is over.

It would still be interesting to know how the MSG detects that a box is inside.

I don't care about warranties, etc. (I foolishly sold it through eBay as a private seller), and I've already tried everything with the company, but I've gotten nowhere.
Well.
If someone has an idea.
I'd like to try that.

Oops icon_redface.gif

...while there are no errors in the error memory.

It seems to have gotten lost somewhere between the eye and the brain.

There's either a fault that triggers an emergency mode but isn't recorded, or...
(unlikely, but not impossible; since the STGs can be flashed).
'Is the software also increasingly becoming a 'banana' – ripening at the customer's site? It could also be that...'
that you have to drive with the error for longer than time x before the entry is recorded).
or the box itself (which can likely influence boost pressure and volume) goes into a kind of...
Emergency mode activated and system shut down.

Whether the latter exists (demo feature icon_question.gif) is something that only the box manufacturer can probably tell you.

Best regards,
Rudi

Hello,
What else can he possibly say?
He has his money, and he's probably not going to get any more from you!
Throw that 'thing' away and write off the cost as 'experience'!

How does the box do that?
I'm not aware of any PD box that does that. The box is simply spliced into the pump's wiring harness, so how can it possibly influence the boost pressure?
Did you measure the boost pressure value using VAGCOM? If so, then your problem is likely due to the 1.25 bar reading, which is outside the acceptable range for the control unit.

By the way, could you please provide more specific details about your car (engine code)?
If it's an automatic 101 model with ATD, you can forget about using that box; it won't work. If it's an AXR (EU4) engine, you'll probably have to forget about it too. With that engine, the electronics usually immediately detect that they're being tampered with (at least, that's what happened to me). Or, the control unit would have to be so severely modified that the effect is almost zero. A reputable seller would have warned you about this. Unfortunately, the only solution here is the old-fashioned way: reprogramming the engine control unit (ECU).

Well, then I have a problem... I have the AXR engine (and the transmission is a manual).
Autobild once tested all these boxes, and the results showed that they contained almost more features than the manufacturer even claimed. Hmmph.
'According to VAG, it produces 1.25 bar above atmospheric pressure.'
As I see it, I need to make some very subtle adjustments to prevent the engine control unit (ECU) from constantly cutting power... (unfortunately, I can't change the boost pressure... only the fuel injection amount).

If the emergency stop is triggered only due to excessive boost pressure, you could try lengthening the VTG rod.

Then, at least between the mechanical VTG activation points, the boost pressure is more likely to match what the engine control unit expects.

The chances are slim, but it doesn't cost anything to try...

If you don't know -> use the search function.

If you don't understand the search results, it's best to leave it alone – or have someone who understands it do it for you.
