Good evening.

A few days ago, I already reported about problems I'm having with my B4 TDI 1Z:

/viewtopic.php?t=17248

Now that I'm back home, I wanted to connect my laptop. Unfortunately, the interface isn't giving me any output. It works with all the other cars in my family, but those aren't "problem vehicles"!

I have a VAG-COM license that I could potentially update, but my question is whether the adapter from this shop, specifically the following one:

http://shop.dieselschrauber.de/product_info.php/cPath/21/products_id/36

"Would it solve my problem?"

I've already found several threads in the forum that describe similar problems, but they don't offer the solutions I'm looking for!

User "Wolfi" reported, among other things, that it might be possible to read out group 000 using an interface kit, version 2.4, from Ulf. Does the aforementioned part refer to this kit?
Is this response transmittable via USB and a true serial interface?

Are there any updates on whether measurement data blocks from other groups in the 1Z series, manufactured before 1994, can also be read out? (The reason is that many of these topics are quite old, and the development of hardware and software continues.)

Best regards,
Kristian.
Gruß
Kristian

Is yours now a 1993 or 1994 model?
With the '93 model, you can only read out group 0, and that will never change because the engine control unit (ECU) only provides this specific group of data.

No, the two things have nothing to do with each other.

The "VAG-COM/OBD2 Diagnostic Professional System KKL+CAN (USB)" communicates seamlessly with my MSG icon_wink.gif.
However, I assume that the other diagnostic devices from Rainer will not have any issues either.

That reminds me: did you set the start baud rate to 240 in VAG-COM? This is necessary for "simpler" interfaces when working with this vehicle!

Hello,

The device should appear on COM1, provided you have a genuine serial port.
Otherwise, a semi-professional/professional system with a USB connection.

Which measurement blocks can be read out are not determined by the diagnostic software in VAG-COM (which can access all), but rather by the data that the respective control unit is actually capable of providing.

Best regards, Rainer.

Good day.

Thank you for the answers.

@ wolfi
I think I understand the part about the corresponding measurement blocks.
My vehicle is a 01/94 model, but to my knowledge, it still has the engine with 184 Nm of torque, as far as I can tell. Can I definitively identify this by the ECU (Engine Control Unit) number?

@ Rainer

If a serial connection were necessary for the aforementioned interface, I will first need to find an older laptop with a serial port, as I currently only have one without it.
I'll get in touch with you later.
Gruß

Can I unambiguously identify it using the STG number?

Sure, 8A0 907 401 B has a torque of 184 Nm (as far as I know, the older ones (with pre-compression nozzle holders) have the 8A0 907 401 A, and those are not diagnosable at all).
However, the 1994 model can also be identified by the mass airflow sensor (instead of a volume airflow sensor), the smaller turbocharger, the crankshaft ventilation system, the solenoid valves, the different door panels, etc.

Have you read that?

Perhaps it will also work with the existing interface.

Hello,

Try Wolfi's suggestion, otherwise, the kit or the finished product is now also available as a USB version.

Best regards, Rainer.
