Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem that I haven't been able to solve using the existing resources (search function), and I'm hoping to get help in this forum. First of all, I should mention that I've done an engine swap on my Golf 2, and I also installed an ABS/EDS system, which is now giving me problems getting it to work.

I first connected the ABS/EDS unit, designated Teves MK 04 (the control unit has the part number 1H0 907 379 E), to the central electrical system according to the wiring diagram...
The main relay is also activated -> I had no problems connecting to the control unit and reading data using my VAG-Com interface (software 409.0).
This afternoon, I wanted to 'activate' the system, or at least bleed it first.
Based on information from other posts, it seems that you could initiate the process using the login code: 40168 and the channels 001, 002, 003 in the default settings. However, my control unit did not accept this login code, and therefore, I was unable to bleed it. There were no entries in the error memory.
After a short test drive, no function could be detected, although this is also because I don't have a speed signal.

Perhaps someone could give me an idea of what I could do differently, or what I might have done wrong when trying to bleed it? Or maybe a tip?

Thank you very much, Flo.

Hi,

no help, but a question / hint:

ABS systems are developed and tested by the manufacturer for a specific vehicle. The approval process is likely tied to these tests. Therefore, I doubt that anyone will approve the installation of such a system in your car. The "1H" number indicates a component from a Golf 3, for which there is certainly no approval for a Golf 2. The same likely applies to the rest of the ABS hardware, which significantly affects the car's braking performance.

Have you clarified these questions yet?

Best regards,

Jan.

Hi, yes, thank you for pointing that out. However, that has already been clarified -> it's fine. Besides, there are more 3-series Golfs than 2-series. icon_wink.gif

But still, it's strange that I can't access it. Can anyone tell me exactly which type it was installed in?! There must be a login code!! icon_confused.gif

Thank you in advance for your efforts...

Take a look at the RLF (Release Information) for a Teves 04 ABS system. It doesn't mention anything about logins or basic settings. It's a rather simple ABS system that only supports a few functions via diagnostics – I believe it's just for reading and clearing error codes. Bleeding the system is done in the normal way, without any diagnostic actions.

Hi Uwe,

Thank you, unfortunately, I don't have an RLF for the ABS... icon_redface.gif
Then it seems like that issue is already resolved. Could you possibly send me the repair manual?

Thank you very much, Flo.

Hello Flo,

I don't believe that Ross-Tech simply sends out copies of repair manuals easily.
Take a look over there.
