Hi,

Despite the search function, I still have the following question:

How can I use VAG-COM to determine the last event that triggered the alarm system? I've found a huge number of threads where people are pointing out that you should check this, but nowhere does it say how to do it. (Measurement block?)
How would that work with a 5052 or with a 1551?

Greetings
Micha

I need to revisit the old question:

Last night, my alarm system randomly went off and continued to ring until this morning at 7:00 (98 Passat 3B). I would certainly like to avoid this in the future, also for the sake of my neighbors.
My first two guesses would be (1) the floor is submerged in water, as there is sometimes a little water that gets in during heavy rain, or (2) the rear door lock, as I suffer from the general VW rear wiper problem.
Now, I still prefer to avoid dealing with things in murky situations and I don't want to disassemble half the car just because.

(1) Can the final trigger reason be found somewhere?

(2) What could be the possible reason for this?

(3) How can the alarm system be disabled?

(4) Does the alarm system's horn have a separate fuse?

I haven't been able to read the fault codes yet, but I will do so this evening.

@Admin: Please move this thread to the "Engine Control and Diagnostics" section.

EDIT: Moved to STG and Diagnosis

That way, you'll also find the final reason.

To deactivate the alarm system, please refer to the user manual. There should be instructions on how to do this.

The security designation is also located there. Alternatively, disconnect the alarm horn's plug, if you can reach it.

I don't have direct access to a 3B and therefore cannot directly assist.

Greetings
Guste

Thank you for the quick response.

The horn seems to be located somewhere behind the right panel in the trunk. I don't know (yet) how I can get there.

I'm not too lazy to read the instructions - I don't have any. Therefore, the questions about securing and deactivating.

Which fuse would that be? None of them understand the symbols.
And the deactivation?

So... I'm now a little bit further along.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) read - nothing found, no unusual signals, etc.

Deactivating the DWA is done by double-clicking or double-clicking "close" on the FB. However, the LED in the driver's door still continues to blink persistently. Is this normal? Even without the rear door lock, closing is confirmed by double blinking and the LED also flashes.

The cause of my nighttime problem seems to be the trunk lock. It was submerged in water, and the contacts of the 3-pole connector from the micro-switch are quite corroded, so I can initially rule out a permanent and good connection. Although I have dried everything out, I still don't feel confident. What can I do to prevent the DWA from accidentally activating during the final troubleshooting? Ideally, I would just like to deactivate the horn. The turn signals can continue to function normally, which doesn't bother anyone at night, but makes me aware in the morning that something happened. I have unsuccessfully searched for a horn behind the right trunk cover. Now I hope someone can help me. Where is it? Is there a fuse? Is there a relay? Where can I find it? icon_confused.gif

Hello,
So, the horn for the 3BG Variant is located behind the left (driver's side) of the "trunk" and can also be activated when locking. I don't know if this will help you.

Okay, I'm ready. Thank you!

Will I also disassemble the other side tomorrow?

Does anyone know if there's a repair kit available, or at least the part number for the lock mechanism of the rear door? And maybe there's also a blind plug for the wiper arm shaft in the rear window?

Search for the Blind Stop Valve VW at an auction house.
