Hello,

What should you do if you get the impression that the engine feels less responsive to accelerator pedal movements after maintenance at the workshop compared to before?

I only found a mention in the forum about disconnecting the clutch pedal connector for this issue. If you do that, the engine reacts unfiltered to movements of the accelerator pedal. However, I didn't want to resort to such drastic measures right away, and you probably have to remove quite a bit of trim to get to the connector. It's too much effort for me just to test it.

Does anyone know (I unfortunately don't have a VAG-COM), whether there is a parameter in the engine control unit for the damping value, and whether it can be adjusted via VAG diagnostics? Perhaps someone has messed around with it, and now no one knows what happened... icon_rolleyes.gif

Thank you very much for your help!

Regards,
Robert.

It is helpful for anyone who wants to assist you if you include at least the vehicle type and engine code (MKB, which can be found on the engine block, production data plate, or other vehicle documents) in your signature (-> profile).

Best regards,
Rudi

If you disconnect the switch on the clutch pedal, the GRA (presumably a system or feature) will also be disabled, unless you bypass the switch. However, this is not recommended.

Hello Robert,

Basically, your engine control unit might already be flashable (you should check that).
(Post the part number) and could (if Oettinger hasn't taken any precautions).
received a software update during a service at a VAG dealership.
with which the tuning would be ruined.

Best regards,
Rudi

Hi,

What exactly did they do at the workshop? That information would be helpful! Maybe they replaced the timing belt or the fuel injectors?

Greetings.
Franz.

Hello,

No, the tuning isn't gone; I would notice that. icon_wink.gif
At the workshop, they only performed a regular minor service and adjusted the alignment.

I was actually only wondering if there's a parameter for adjusting the damping, similar to how you can calibrate the fuel level sensor or the fuel consumption display.

Can someone confirm that the value is permanently coded into the control unit and cannot be accidentally changed when plugging in a diagnostic tool?

Best regards.
Robert.

To the best of my knowledge, that is the case.

To modify the "pedal response," a diagnostic tool is not sufficient; you need to resort to chip tuning.

Regarding the decadent (ML CDI) car owned by my father, it's generally possible to modify it with a tuning box using a laptop and a skilled tuner. The tuner then asks: 'How is the tuning box performing? Do you want a little more power? Should we make the accelerator pedal a bit more sensitive?'

I don't know how Ottinger or Volkswagen (VW) solve that problem.
