Hi everyone!
I have a question for everyone who knows more about engine control units (ECUs) than I do!
If a motor control unit (STG) is coded to "0003," which indicates all-wheel drive and the switch is working correctly, and the STG has been chipped, does the software only apply within this coding, or can I recode this STG to front-wheel drive automatic mode and still benefit from the advantages of the chipped software?
Thank you.

If only the data in the all-wheel drive module has been changed, then the performance increase will only be reflected there.
Best regards,
Rudi

Do you know how tuners do it? Do they just modify the necessary map, like in this case, the all-wheel drive map? A6 Avant 3,0TDI Tiptronic Bj. 02/2008

Yes - each person did what they considered to be right at the time the software was being created.
So... everything is possible.

If in doubt, simply try the other encoding - hopefully, your 'butt meter' will tell you whether there's an actual performance increase or not. You might end up with an error code if the communication between the engine control unit and the all-wheel drive control unit is no longer working.
