Hi everyone,

Has anyone ever tried removing the DPF and replacing it with a straight pipe? (Of course, only for trips abroad...)
Is the MSG complaining, or is it not even noticing?

If it's complaining: How does it know the DPF is missing? If it's due to a lack of differential pressure, could you fake it?

And if this topic has already been discussed, I would appreciate it if you could provide a link, as I couldn't find anything relevant in my search.

Hi...

You've understood correctly; the monitoring is only performed using the temperature sensors and the differential pressure.

The system calculates the results based on the following values:
Air mass and atmospheric pressure are converted into a volume based on the exhaust gas temperature before the filter. This calculated volume must then correspond to the differential pressure within certain tolerances.

If the differential pressure is too low (or if the mass airflow sensor, temperature sensor, etc. is defective), it triggers an alarm. The same applies to saturated filters, which can trigger multiple levels of response, including forced regeneration with a notification to the driver, or, if everything is too late, an emergency program.

Hi Aron,

The principle is clear to me, but I was wondering if anyone has actually tested it in practice.

Unfortunately, the newer MSG devices contain a large number of test routines, and I was wondering if the MSG detects the removal of the device. And if so, which sensor values need to be reported.

As mentioned, the combination of air mass, atmospheric pressure, and exhaust gas temperature results in a certain exhaust volume, which creates a differential pressure. This pressure is monitored, and therefore, a signal could be artificially generated here. He has no other measurement options.
