Rim Scratch Repair: How to Fix It

Hi.

I wanted to let my little one help with washing the car in the summer - what could possibly go wrong?

Unfortunately, one of the wheels with the "nice" side facing outwards ended up hitting a protruding part of a wall, causing the rim to be damaged despite the tire's rim protection.
Because they are Monte Carlos (simple and large-surface arms).

You can clearly see the quirk/flaw/oddity.

Can a painter do something about it, without having to completely repaint the entire rim, which would cost a fortune?

I can easily imagine that something like this could be restored using airbrush techniques, depending on how deep the scratch is. Even the smallest paint imperfections can be almost completely eliminated by masters of the airbrush gun. I had stone chip damage on the edge of the hood removed using this technology. And: You can't tell that anything was ever there...

Yes, he can.
At least mine did that with my old DBV rims (on the G3).
I scratched the rim of my car in a parking garage. The scratched area on the rim was sanded, filled with putty, and then repainted.
However, the painter needs to be really skilled. Take a look online under "Felgendoktor" (Rim Doctor). They even repair even more severe damage.

I wanted to have my VW dealer take a look at it.
The painters did a pretty good job of fixing the rear section that was incorrectly assembled in Emden – and they had to repaint it as well.
