I need to ask again: What causes excessive oil pressure (how much is 'too high'?) and what can happen in such a case?

Maximum 7 bar (at a minimum oil temperature of 80°C).
If the oil filter is too high, replace the oil filter adapter if necessary. ... This is what the repair manual says.
There's likely a pressure regulating valve located in the oil filter housing. In older engines, this was always built into the oil pump.

I'll have him check it tomorrow with a calibrated instrument. What happens if the pressure is too high? What could break?

Eventually, the seals will wear out and either leak or even burst.
"This has happened to me before with an oil filter. Right from the moment I started the engine, the oil pump built up so much pressure that the sealing ring, which seals the filter cartridge against the holder, burst. The problem back then was a stuck control valve in the oil pump due to debris. However, it was a DX engine (an old 1.8-liter gasoline GTI)."

I just received a call from the workshop: The oil pressure is fine. However, my RAID instrument continues to show increasing values as the engine speed increases. Does anyone else experience this 'RAID nonsense'? Is it usually the sensor or the instrument itself that's causing the problem?

The company 'raid' wants to send me a new sensor. Does anyone know about this problem? Is it really the sensor that's at fault, and not the instrument itself?
