hello,
I believe this error is already known.
This error code appears in the control units of models from the years 2000 and 2001 when you read out the control unit's data.
I'm now having a problem.
Unfortunately, I mistakenly tried to read the airbag control unit using VAGCOM V0.78, which resulted in a connection error. After that, the warning light illuminated and is still on.
After that, it is no longer possible to connect to the control unit.
After updating to version V303.1, I was able to read the control unit again. However, there is now an error code '65535' stored in the memory that cannot be erased.
After a long search online and with DRV Berlin, it turned out to be a software bug.
Well, that doesn't really help me right now.
Okay, here's the translation:
'Now I need to figure out how to explain this to the Volkswagen workshop in a way that ensures I don't have to pay for the new part.'
I definitely want them to show some understanding, as it's actually a software bug that wasn't caused by me, but only revealed by my actions.
What should I say to Volkswagen?
Should I just pretend to be completely clueless and let them do everything until they potentially present me with the bill?
Or just play dumb until they tell me what's broken, and then say that it's not my fault?
'Or should I be honest from the beginning and say that I read out the control unit using VAGCOM?'
I have a LUPPO 3L MJ2001, manufactured on November 25, 2000.
greetings

Hello,
I would suggest that you go to a VAG dealership and tell them that the airbag warning light is constantly on. Be present when they read the error codes and definitely get a copy of the diagnostic report. If they find the error code 65535, insist (firmly) on having the control unit replaced. Tschüss

Hi there,
short speech, long meaning.
I was just at Volkswagen.
After I explained the problem, the Volkswagen master mechanic was skeptical and read the error codes.
After that, he hacked into my computer and accessed 'Lupilein' along with the error description, and immediately, instructions for resolving the problem appeared. (Since the instructions were already stored in the computers, it means this is a known issue.)
Instructions:
Replace the control unit with a new control unit having a new part number: ........
Coverage of all material and labor costs: 100%.
'That's how every day should start: with everyone getting their repairs done free of charge.'
Sometimes, I too need to have a little luck.
greetings
