Hello everyone,

I disconnected the automatic transmission from the engine (1Z), but the torque converter is still attached to the engine and not in the transmission bell housing. Elsawin doesn't provide any information on how to remove the converter. I believe that the converter should actually be connected to the transmission, not the engine.

I tried to carefully pull it off (maybe it's just fixed to the shaft by the teeth), but it won't budge. I didn't want to break it, though.

Can someone tell me what the converter looks like, because I can't really see anything here?

Thank you.

Christian.

The torque converter is attached to the flywheel from the front with 3 screws on the flywheel. These screws are typically loosened first when removing the transmission, allowing the torque converter to remain attached to the transmission.

That sounds good... I've already found them, but I thought they were a bit small... Let's see if I can hold the adapter when I loosen the screws.

Okay, I'll let you know how it goes.

PS: Elsawin could have pointed that out; at least, I couldn't find anything about it.
