Hello everyone,
I'm new here and I already have a problem.
My car, a 2001 Audi A3 TDI with 131 horsepower, engine code ASZ, has very little power.
It accelerates very slowly and has a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The mass airflow sensor was replaced a year ago.
I had the error codes read at A.T.U.

Now it says:
Error code: 17964 - CHARGE PRESSURE - INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE TOO LOW.
Error code: 17564 - INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR - OPEN/SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND.

What does all of this mean now?
I have an appointment with AUDI tomorrow. Should I have a new turbocharger installed right away, or can that kind of thing be repaired? Can anyone give me some advice? It would also be helpful if someone has had a similar problem.

Thank you in advance!
Marco.

It's all right there.
Boost pressure sensor...
First, it's important to examine (or have someone examine) the device (and its cables) closely.

Or do you always buy new cars when the tank is empty icon_smile.gif?

Greetings.
Martin.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

"It's not as simple as you're making it sound. When reading the error codes, the possible cause listed is:"
- Air leak
- Generator/regulator defective.
- Possibly, boost pressure outside of tolerance.
- Vacuum line defective/leaking/blocked/stuck.
- Faulty boost valve.
- Vacuum sensor defective.
- Faulty boost pressure sensor.
- Turbocharger failure.
-Faulty control unit.
- Cables/Connectors: Open circuit/Short circuit to ground: Voltage/Resistance.

Now? What's broken now? Can I rule out the turbocharger? icon_rolleyes.gif

I have no idea which tool "Auto Killer" uses, but it's something related to error codes.
It's kind of unhelpful to just say "go outside."
Quote:
INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR - OPEN/SHORT TO GROUND

"This is a very clear statement that narrows down the error to three possible locations."
- Turbocharger pressure sensor (not impossible, but rather unlikely).
- Engine control unit (even less likely)
- The electrical connection between the two ... icon_wink.gif

I would like to take a very close look at the connection (including the connector on the sensor).
remove and check for corrosion).
Abrasion marks, badger bites, ...

Once the error is fixed, the other one should disappear as well.

He can't be responsible for any interruptions or short circuits.
It doesn't look too bad.

Can you tell me where I can find this sensor? I'm a complete beginner in this area. Will I be able to see the connector right away, and what does it look like?

The boost pressure sensor (ASz) is located below the passenger-side headlight (on the left side when facing the car) and is mounted on top of the air conditioning condenser. Accessing it can be tricky, especially with xenon headlights, but it's possible with skillful fingers.

"I was at Audi today, and they determined that the turbocharger pressure sensor is broken, and they may also need to replace the metal valve on the turbocharger. Is the turbocharger pressure sensor the same thing as a boost pressure sensor? Can this be replaced by yourself or at an independent workshop? Or would you recommend going to the Audi dealership? The cost at Audi is approximately €450."

Thank you in advance.

Wenn der tatsächlich defekt sein solltem, was wirklioch eher selten der Fall ist und du einen fehler im KABELSTRANG ausschließen kannst, dann ist auch der Wechsel für Normalbegabte kein Problem. Siabove.

Metal valve on the turbocharger. Oh dear, what kind of Audi workshop is this? Please provide the exact part numbers.

Unfortunately, I don't have any labels icon_rolleyes.gif. I recently had an accident on the right side, and it's possible that it broke. However, that makes me suspicious, because I also didn't have any power before the accident. So, it probably couldn't be the boost pressure sensor if I had this problem before the accident, right?

Now, I have to pay another 100€ for the diagnosis. icon_eek.gif

Okay everyone, first of all, thank you for the responses. The problem has been solved; the boost pressure sensor was faulty.
