Hello,
This week, after about 8.5 years, the car battery suddenly failed completely. After being jump-started, the power steering also completely shut off, and the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) also stopped working.
After replacing the battery, the electric windows now only work when the switch is held down continuously. If you release the switch, the window remains in that position.
Normally, it worked in two stages. In the second stage, you would press the switch down briefly, and the windows would then automatically lower all the way. The same principle applied in the other direction as well.
Trying to lower the windows completely and then raise them again didn't work.
It should have worked if the anti-pinch protection had been functioning. In that case, the windows would have stopped immediately after the switch was released.
Once it crashed, I restarted it, and everything worked again.
Or is there another option?
Furthermore, despite being without power for a few hours, the car radio still saved all the channels and didn't require a code when turned on.
Why is there a (supplied) radio code that needs to be entered after being disconnected from the power grid, even though the stations are still saved without power?
What trick or solution allows the automatic complete lowering of the windows to be re-enabled?

That's normal because the radio knows it's still installed in the original vehicle. A code entry is only required if it's being used in a different vehicle. MfG. Michael

The window problem can be resolved by exiting the vehicle (with all windows closed), inserting the key into the driver's door lock, and holding it in the "open" position until the windows are down. Then, repeat the process with the key in the "close" position until the windows are up. After that, everything should be working correctly (this is also described in the owner's manual!).

Just in case anyone else finds this thread through a search:
For most company vehicles:
- Press and hold the "down" button on the window control until the window is fully open.
- Press and hold the "down" button for a minimum of 2 seconds.
- Release the "down" button.
- Press and hold the "down" button again for at least 2 seconds.
--> Lower endpoint learned.
For some vehicles, the upper endpoint also needs to be learned.
- Pull up on the window switch labeled "up" and hold it until the window is fully open.
- Press and hold the "up" button for a minimum of 2 seconds.
- Release the "up" button.
- Press and hold the "up" button again for at least 2 seconds.
--> Upper endpoint learned.

"Thank you."
It worked perfectly the first time, and now it's functioning normally again. I can hopefully rely on my Fabia again. Fabia 1.9 Combi, Bj. 2001,ATD Euro 3
