Hello,

I've been driving a G4 for 10 years now, and I'm experiencing problems with the entire suspension system.

Okay, so I already had:

"As new, original factory filling = too soft, excessive swaying, unusable!"

Then H&R 30mm lowering springs + original shocks = better, but too stiff.

Then I had a complete Sachs Performance 30mm suspension for 6 years, which was very good, but I no longer need it.
too hard, or the roads too bad, yes, yes, that's the age icon_smile.gif.

Now using Sachs performance shock absorbers with original VW sport suspension springs = good, but still too stiff. The wheel bounces even on small potholes (probably due to the shock absorber being too stiff).

What kind of shock absorbers should I get to achieve proper comfort without excessive swaying?

I was thinking about installing a GTI stabilizer bar in the front and either using four Bilstein B4 shock absorbers.
or to get a Monroe quote.

Do you have any other tips? This fixed axis is driving me crazy!

I recently drove a P307, it was so beautiful, as long as there are no curves icon_smile.gif)))))

"Hi, the problem is that sports shock absorbers are often equipped with too much damping pressure. The compression damping is okay with stiff springs, but it leaves too little comfort for us "old guys"."
However, not all Gautsch-brand VWs have defective shock absorbers; often, the rubber bushings are also worn or deteriorated, including those in the rear.

I've already dealt with the rear rubber bushings; it was a real pain to get the old ones out, and even worse to get the new ones in.

It's simply difficult to get what you want when it comes to accessories.
You can't go wrong with Bilstein B4.

May I ask what engine you have and which springs (color code) you are using?

I have a TDI with the worst, softest suspension.
The springs have become even softer, and the front of the car is now lower. I would also like to upgrade to something firmer, but of course, still comfortable for the spine.
I've already tried to find the color codes for the feathers using product numbers and other methods, but it's been a never-ending task...

If you're using the VW sport suspension, do you need a different steering rack?

I sold Eibach springs to someone who had a G4 variant with a dog crate in the trunk. These springs were a replacement for the factory-installed lowering kit, which lowered the car by 2 cm. Additionally, they bought 4 new NK struts. This brought the rear of the car back to an acceptable height, and the suspension felt like stock again, maybe a little stiffer.
But new feathers grow back well, or something like that.

I have Koni yellow shocks with Eibach 30mm lowering springs. They drive really well, not too stiff (the Koni shocks are set relatively soft on my car), and they've lasted a long time. Avoid cheap coilover kits. Bilstein is certainly good, but definitely expensive.

Hi,

"The tires also have a significant impact on comfort. I once switched from 15" to 14" tires on my G3 and experienced a noticeable improvement. Even a small change in tire width (e.g., 1 cm) can make a difference. Furthermore, different tire manufacturers offer tires with varying characteristics."

Perhaps it can be taken care of cost-neutrally during the next scheduled tire change. Then you can keep the suspension and still have a more upright driving position.
Viele Grüße
Kai
