As the title suggests, I'm curious about this.
SUN's Modis is known to be very, very good... unfortunately, the hotline is expensive. Gutmann, well, it's also expensive.
What are your experiences?
Mostly VAG. Mechaniker ohne eigenes Werkzeug kann nichts werden.

VCDS, the best there is for VAG vehicles, and all for just €349. MfG. Michael

I've been using an AMX530 USB device for about 3 years now; it's priced similarly to VCDS, and I own a VCDS system myself. I'm familiar with several large diagnostic testers because of my profession as a car mechanic.
In the US, SUN has been offering a device, a "flasher," which is supposed to enable software updates. Apparently, there's a regulation in place there that requires these updates to be accessible to everyone, starting with a certain vehicle model year. When will a similar regulation be implemented in our country?
What tools do you primarily use in your job, and what are your experiences with them?
This isn't meant to be a buying advice thread... I already have VCDS! Just some casual conversation about scanners. Mechaniker ohne eigenes Werkzeug kann nichts werden.

VAG: VCDS, very satisfied with it.
Everything else: TEXA was also satisfactory, but the price was anything but VCDS level. MfG. Michael

Regarding the flashing process - please wait.

I'm familiar with this from the BMW X5 and X6... it's really like a PC from 10 years ago now... constant updates and patches... it's even possible for the engine control unit (ECU) to crash like an old Windows 95 computer... you just need to reset it and it works again... (from the US factory). Mechaniker ohne eigenes Werkzeug kann nichts werden.

Reprogramming engine control units (ECUs) is now permitted by all vehicle manufacturers for all cars equipped with EURO 5 standards, according to EU General Vehicle Order (GVO) regulations. This functionality, called "Passthru," is now also possible with the Bosch KTS device. A6 AFB
