hello!
Can anyone tell me where the diesel filter is located on a Golf 3 TDI (90 hp) and when I should replace it?

Sure, no problem! Here's the translation:

'Thank you in advance!!!'

Front right, behind the strut tower (in the direction of travel).

Drain and refill the coolant every 15,000 km.
Change every 30,000 km.

Cost approximately €25.

Hello,

On the landing page, it says:

The goal of this page is not to impart basic knowledge; for that, here are some links...

Sorry, but I think you're in the wrong place. Perhaps someone from the forum should come to your place and provide customer service for your car. icon_rolleyes.gif
Click on the "Literature" section of buch24.de and order a repair manual for your car there.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi.

"According to the maintenance schedule," he (as Varianti already mentioned) needs to have it replaced every 30,000 km. Or, at the very latest, when the engine no longer delivers its full power and other causes (of which there are many icon_sad.gif) have been ruled out.

To drain: At the bottom, there is a screw cap --> unscrew it and let out as much liquid as possible until only diesel comes out.
The broth should, of course, be collected in a clear container. I'm attaching a piece of aquarium tubing to the filter and placing the container next to the wheel, because there's not enough space in the fender area for a glass or similar.
Based on general experience, it seems that backwashing is rarely necessary in practice, as I haven't encountered any cases where significant amounts of water came out of the filter.

Furthermore, Rainer is right; this isn't really a forum for questions about basic diesel engine knowledge... I only answered because I couldn't find it in my owner's manual.

You're not stealing my time by asking questions like that...
I have a TD (AAZ) engine, and I've had bad experiences with the fuel filter from ATU. It either sucked in air, or it didn't provide the necessary flow rate. The result was frequent power loss under full load. Stukov also observed the same thing with his AAZ.
I have no idea if your TDI has the same filter. I'm sitting at the wrong computer again. But I wouldn't buy any filters from ATU anymore.

I completely agree and would like to refer to the original filter. ATU supplied me with two defective diesel filters in a row, until I realized what was happening. You just can't assume that something like that would break twice.

-> Original VW filter.

*edit*

The diesel filter is the same for all 3-series Golf diesel engines, specifically the 1Y, AAZ, AEY, 1Z, and AFN models.
